They are definitely nipping (ha, ha) across the water from Turkey to the Dodecanese.

This summer I was attacked 4 times by a horsefly the size of a small family car.

This autumn I was buzzed by nasty little sods that my wife calls spitty flies (not "spiti" as in "house" flies) because they don't seem to bite but just gob a bit of acid on you which stings like hell for a few seconds. Doesn't leave a mark, but it feels like someone is sticking pins in you.

Lets round 'em all up and send back to Istanbul - they don't seem to mind them there - in fact they seem to sell them as free extras whenever you buy some meat or fish from a shop.

I went to Zante last year and the flies were terrible, so bad i will never go back.

We stayed in a top hotel and yet there was no attempt to kill them off, on one sofa in the Lounge there was over 30 on it.

The worst thing is out and about in the Restaurants, your eating and they're buzzing around your food, i can't imagine what the kitchen must look like but yet again nobody makes any attempt to get rid. Every business should be forced into installing an electric killer just for the point of hygiene.

I'm well travelled, been to many countries including India and it wasn't close to that bad, never again.

Naaaaaaa .... They're migrating from Canada. They've been talking to the geese and decided it's too damn cold, here in Canada ... so every fall, more and more flies are packin' their bags. Hundreds hop onto each goose's back ... and hitch a ride to the warmer climates. LMAO... maybe it's true, I haven't seen a fly all summer!!

I haven't been to Greece since 2002. Have flies really taken over?
I feel bad for my Yaya.
