St. Vitus' Dance, The - Sailing yacht seen on the police drama MIAMI VICE/NBC/1984-89. The St. Vitus' Dance was the private residence of Miami undercover detective James "Sonny" Crockett (Don Johnson). When not chasing drug smugglers, Sonny enjoyed a quiet evening on board his boat with his pet alligator, Elvis. (his watch croc). Sonny's yacht was an Endeavour 42 foot yacht priced at $134,950. It featured spacious aft sleeping quarters and a vee-berth forward, with galley, two private bathrooms (heads) each with separate shower stalls, stainless-steel sinks and vanities. The boat's auxiliary power came from a 62-hp Perkins diesel engine. Sonny also piloted a Wellcraft 38 Scarab KV speedboat priced at cost of $105,000. It featured twin 440s engines with specially cupped and balanced stainless-steel props, a long snout, flush deck, venturi windshield and radar arch. TRIVIA NOTE: The ship derived its name from the 3rd century saint, St. Vitus who was patron saint of persons having "Chorea" (a.k.a. "St. Vitus' Dance") - a disorder of the nervous system characterized by irregular, jerking movements caused by involuntary muscular contractions.
