There is something wrong with the calibration of coke syrup and water pressure that is being drawn through the soda fountains. It may also be the ice that is in your coke which waters down your drink.

You may want to inform the restaurant manager about this, but be courteous about the coke not tasting right. If you don't like Coke in these restaurants, then just buy bottled water or bring your own.

Okay here are my theories: a) sometimes when someone accidentally makes an extra or wrong drink, they give it out to the next person who orders it to save time and product, b) too much ice that hasn't been cool enough and was melting when it was put into the drink c) the carbonation is set to high, therefore you aren't getting enough "syrup" to give it the good flavor this is only my opinion and is not directed toward any particular organization :)

Because you get a box of syrup for the coke... which is mixed with the soda...

and cos these places like to save money, they always skimp on the syrup to stretch it out.

I think it should be 3 parts soda to 1 parts syrup...

but the rules in the places generally stretch to 4-1

they dont actually have soda from a soda bottle in those machines they have it lead back to the back of the building like underground, and thats where they mix the syrup with the carbanated water that then mixes in the machine (so its like home made kinda haha)... hope i explained that ok... but sometimes the can with the syrup doesnt put out enough syrup so it tastes like ****.

hope i helped

oh and tell the places they have to fix it

Because soda fountains are a combination between soda water and syrup.. If the ratio is off, or they need to change the box, the Soda tends to taste like crap..

Because it is watered down from a syrup that you attach to the machine. The stuff in the bottles has a higher concentration of syrup to water.

They need to continually adjust the syrup water mixture. Some try and save on food cost so they increase the water to save on food cost. With fountain pop dirt cheap (15 cents a 20oz cup), I see no reason why they don't properly calibrate these machines. Its easy to do.

Because generally the equipment isn't maintained , calibrated properly. Syrup in a box if drawn in the correct parts can be as good as anything else.

At least it's not as bad as the coffee. I didn't think that Macca's coffee could get any worse, until I stopped at McDonald's in Goondiwindi, Australia. Truly undrinkable and an abomination.
