Well James, I can't say for certain that your statement is correct I do know that I have become a republican this past year. I voted for Clinton both times before that. When I was younger I was more anti establishment. That seemed to be more ofa democrat platform. Although I don't particularly care for our recent president I do agree with the reason's we can't just leave Iraq. I truly believe that if we leave now we will turn out with Israel where you can't go anywhere without a bomber next to you.
I guess also and this is not putting anyone down. Just for myself, I was young when I was a democrat. I'm 49 now. When I was young I thought I knew a lot more. Life was black and white. Now that I'm older life just isn't that simple. The democrats I have seen lately appear to be extremely clueless about the real world.

Look at the issues and how the candidates address the issues. Most Americans are sick to their stomachs on the way democrats blame everything on our President , but, have no plan to make it better. We are smart enough to see through the crap the liberal democrats dish out. Until the Democratic party sheds itself from the radical Soros left wing, they have not enough support from the American people. There is a culture war and most Americans stay on the traditional side of it.

Actually, real Republicans are aghast at what's happened to their party. Conservatism means spending money wisely, not blowing it on a military action with no set goal.
It means less government, not the impositions Bushco want on their own people.
It means protecting and valuing our military, not allowing them to go into battle without armor and cutting veteran's benefits.

Any true Republican by definition would be appalled at this. Many of them are leaving the party.

and Christian fundamentalism has wormed it's way into the GOP in an insidious way. People are afraid to speak out for fear of being labeled "Ungodly". Salem 1620, anyone? No? How about HUAC headed by McCarthy. Sound familiar?

How little you people know about your own country and your own party.

Read Zell Miller's "A National Party No More" or any of Michael Savage's books. The dem party is now controlled and manipulated by secular-progressives and neo-marxists and has gone way too far left for most Americans.

I'd like to see some facts on that. I doubt you can come up with any solid ones.

Last I heard both parties are losing members. The Independent crowd is the only one gaining ground. Both repubs and demos are trying to sway the independent vote.

It's a matter of mental horsepower; the stupid stay with or are attracted to the party of the Weak Sisters and the intelligent and thoughtful gravitate towards the Republicans.

In the end, it's a matter of selection - an issue of survival of the fittest, if you will; the losers pick the Dems and the winners pick the Reps.

They are? I thought it was half and half, sorta. You know wat? Do wat many ppl (mb even Pres Bushy-head) do: blame it on terrorists. Why is the ozone layer thinning out? Terrorists. Why do I have to wait in this damn traffic? Terrorists. Why did I get fired? Terrorists. Trust me, life's much easier when u blame it on terrorists...the whole world can crumble around you and you can rest assured that sum1 else is to blame. So blame the increase of Republicans on terrorists and sleep easy. (Ok, I'm not serious at all here, just so u know. Who knows y ppl do the things they do?)

Ronald Reagan once answered that question by saying that he did not leave the democratic party, the democratic party left him. I think that is true for a lot of people. The party has been hijacked by the extremely far left, whom most people cannot find common ground with. The farther left the party shifts, the larger the exodus becomes.

I don't know where you have gotten your information from, but you are wrong. There are more registered Democrats and more people this year will be voting democrat. The main reason is the insane war and how it is being handled.
