Try looking up TV5 on the web. It broadcasts nightly news of is happening in France and other French speaking parts of the world. It has loads of good info on what is happening right now in France. I don't know anything about "a-level" french but if you understand french well you will be able to figure out what is going on. If you would like to learn about what is happening in another French speaking area of the world try searching for "radio-canada" it is Canada national news service in French. The accent is clear and you can listen to the radio live.

I hope this helps you out a bit. Bonne chance

Try going to www.lemonde.fr - this is the newspaper "Le Monde" online, and you'll learn a lot from reading that (some of the vocab is a bit unusual but don't be put off by that). You could try listening to French Radio online - there are several link sites you'll find if you google Radio Francais online you'll be able to listen for free. This is hard to follow at first, but after a while, your ears and brain will tune in and you'll understand what they're jabbering on about. Best of luck, and you'll find that your fluency will improve as well as your understanding of French news, politics, and attitudes.

www.lemonde.fr as previously stated - probably the best known French newspaper.

I used www.google.fr a lot for my degree, as you can use it to just search pages from France.
