Earlier, when any team came to India, I have seen totals of 280, 300 or more being made easily by the team batting first, and then the team batting second easily chasing it without any fuss. Why not this time? Why cant a team even chase 220 runs or so, or if they do so, they do so with great difficulty? When in this Champions Trophy will we see a team batting first score 280 or so, and the team batting second chase it easily?

Because this time there is lot opf change in the pitch. Stroke making has not been easy as the ball is not coming to the bat nicely. There is considerable swing and bounce and as such stroke makers find it very difficult to adjust their stroke play. This time, for a difference, Bowlersw are having advantage.

I agree with what has being said, while taking a different approach.

These are not 280-300 pitches. They are a bit slow, and there is a bit of movement, which has more to do with the weather conditions than the pitch.

Certain teams have not applied themselves while batting, and thats why they have not been able to chase anything. e.g Pakistan last night. South Africa were 42/5 but Kemp and Boucher knuckled down, and no matter what did not allow themselves to play a false shot. They scored 214. No one for pakistan did this, and they lost soundly. If one team can score 214, the other team can to, you just have to adjust your play to the conditions which very few teams have. The ones so far that have : West Indies, New Zealand and South Africa. Oh.. the teams that have qualified for the semis.

It's because the batting technique of most of the present batsman is not good.

The pitches are not prepared properly so it is not easy to post a big total

PITCHES ARE EITHER HORRIBLE OR COMPLETELY BOWLER FRIENDLY.
