Being free to give our opinion without having the power to change anything isnt really a democracy , it is an illusion of a democracy to make believe the masses ...Not being able to stop a useless war is enough to prove that we dont have a democracy. First of all a democracy is agaisnt wars especially like the one in Iraq who made a lot of sufferings and thousands of dead people for nothing.

We all live in Democracies right? Yeah right! Western world is a fraud. We vote and we thing we did our duty while who ever gets elected is just continuing the same politics as the one before because oil companies really rule the world.
Democracy means to express and be heard too. You want to know what is the correct word for the western world? It's Dictatorship.
Do you really feel safe sending e mails? Surfing the net? Talk freely in public? Go to any kind of protest? Call on your cell phone? During the Olympics in Greece we had all this "security issue" and Athens was like the "big brother". I mean all Europe and America is a big "big brother". You think Presidents and Prime Ministers care about us? We are a joke to them.
The bottom line? This is not a democracy and if any NSA agent doesn't like my opinions I will be happy to give my home address to came and get me :):)

First of all you seem to have some confusion on just what a "democracy" is. Democracy means nothing more or less than "majority rule," in other words, the opinion of the "majority" of voters in a nation counts more in the election of political rulers and national policy than the opinion of the "minority." The word itself comes from ancient Greek meaning "rule of the people."

Democracy has absolutely NOTHING whatsoever to do with "Not being able to stop a useless war..." or "democracy is agaisnt wars especially like the one in Iraq....." If the majority of the voters in the society are willing to condone or even endure a war, for any reason, then the very rule of "democracy" says that's what you are going to get, a war.

The word "democracy" does NOT mean "the country has to do whatever YOU think is best, or right, or proper." In fact when you believe that the decisions or policies of your leaders or government are completely wrong and the "majority" keeps electing those leaders its a pretty good sign that the "democractic" will of the people is in complete disagreement with YOUR personal opinions.

You may handle this problem by accepting the "will of the majority" as a responsible citizen of a democracy should, while working to change that policy and/or government with which you do not agree, or you may chose to reject the concept of "democracy" altogether and embrace a more "fascistic" approach (Communism, Marxist-Leninism, Maoism, State Fascism, National-Socialism, Ba'athism, State Socialism etc.,) which believes in the tyranny of a minority, imposed by force upon the majority and maintained by force, control and terror.

Your call........

We must not be a democracy but a more of a republic for many reasons the number one reason being the election of 2000 there a man that the people voted for lost cause the electoral vote was made a different way, so you found out that for most of the USA the supreme court is the decider no democracy in that, we can not stop the war because we have not learned lessons from history and as it says until we do we are doomed to repeat history. The Muslims and Christians for all intents and purposes do not get along we have different views and have waged wars on one another for thousand of years. Anyone that believes that his war is protecting his freedoms here has not lived in the USA for the duration of the war so far or they would know that the famous Patriot Act is but one way to restrict and take away your rights and now we have the ability to torture legally prisoners of war that can also be used against the USA's own citizens, We have our conservations listened to, our financial records screened so how can any say we are in a democracy? We fought for our freedom over 200 years ago over the same things that are going on now in our country. We are told what to think by a religious right that has found its way into government even though the Savior of mankind Jesus himself to give to Cesar the things that are his. Democracy died long ago it would appear.

Dear
"" if it were for nothing, they wouldnt still be there""
I see youve made quite a few of your personal opinions public,
and by doing that youve woken up a very complicated issue.
We went to war to defend our country, not to emberass it.
We understand your grief, more Americans are dying now then they did on sept 11th,
We chose to go to War because we thought it was a solution to ending all terrorism,What if we had decided not to go to war?
Would i be here typing at this moment?
We dont know?
"yes ,every action creates a chain of reaction,This is probably why we are still in war.
OIL,I dont know?maybe we need to recupurate some of the tax payers money we spent,Who cares ,
This is why the americans are loosing faith in America, they think we created the war just to get oil and maintain our economical situation.ANYWAYS,wish i had more time
Ps . by the way America is a republic which believes in democracy and many have died for it,

Wow, thanks fuschi, I didn't realize I thought this was a useless war. You average, arrogant, liberal. Your right, we no longer have any form of a democracy. We the people have spoken clearly in several referendums, in several states, that we do not want gay marriage made legal. Does that matter? Of course not, liberals like yourself only want to be a part of a democracy when it suits you. If it doesn't then you run to the courts and try to get judges to tell the rest of us what YOU think is right. Again, thanks for deciding Americas position on the war from your living room couch. Now your only dilemma is how you are going to force your unpopular opinion on the rest of us. What liberal friend of yours told you that "a democracy is agaisnt wars" as you put it. Is this what the educational system in our nation is putting out nowadays. My God! What democracy are speaking of? Greece? Sparta, the most war loving nation in history perhaps? The British empire who could not wait to fight their imperial wars, perhaps? Or America and our mighty military? What democracy is it that has been against war? Go back to school and this time instead of listening to the nonsense coming out of the liberal professors mouth try reading something on your own and getting your own opinion. Then keep it to yourself because nobody really cares what you think.

Being free to give your opinion and having the power to change everything is a anarchy. We have people that represent us in office. They do not always follow our opinion, but they should do what is best for the country. Democracy against wars ? A war is how our country started in the first place. It is you opinion that people are dying for nothing. It is those who do not believe in Democracy that are doing most of the killing.

Wow, at last that's settled, now we finally know.... when fuschiafish decides what is right, that's democracy.... whew all of history can now relax... she' decides when we belong to the masses and are the only ones to make policy.... and now we have the edict it is undemocratic to fight a war.... well, perhaps undemocrat party at least.... except for Joe Liebermann... who was drummed out for dissenting.... but isn't it ONLY the other party that crushes open discussion.... I'm so confused... I guess we must look to our new fuhrer fuscia for our acceptable answer.
