I wanted to study in NY.to get my M.A in English . Hows that I mean a person who has his M.A in English .Can he earn enough?
and what will be his job a university teacher!! thanks fr reading all this.

'Enough' is a vague term... Yes you can earn enough, after all that's what teachers do (especially high school teachers) If you can get a full time job in a private school, all the better.

Back to your original question, YES you can study english, I know atleast 3 of my friends who are in an English major with me at The City College of New York (CUNY). [but my remaining friends are mostly in engineering, including me].

If English is NOT your first language (like you said, you are a foreigner [so am I]) you have to take the TOEFL exam (test of english as a foreign language) before being admitted to college.

Some colleges want more (like SATs) but it is different for varying colleges and different as to whether you would have applied as a student originally from the US or from a foreign country.

But most colleges DO have English majors. Check the college websites for more information.

You can teach in the college level with a Master's. Generally to teach in a University level you need a PhD
