Our wonderful senator from Alaska, Ted Stevens, who was heading a committee to discuss the issue of Net Neutrality, described the internet as a series of tubes. He was then ridiculed on The Daily Show.

I think the internet is still made up of mostly telephone wires. Some dedicated lines were installed underground. There are a couple of fat wires that are under the ocean. Some cities have switched to fiber optics which are also laid underground. So the answer to your question is underground and overhead in telephone wires.

Where did you get the idea that the Internet is made up of a lot of tubes. It is made up of a lot of computers hooked together by telephone wires and other types of wires.

various places, often each town has a building with no windows in it ... these are usually the places where they store the tubes SORRY that was the cell phone people not the internet
