For my parents, it was rock and roll. For me, it was hiphop. I realize that our choice of music isn't made for purposes of angering older generations, but that seems to be the inevitable result. So what will Generation X's kids listen to that will make us say, "That isn't MUSIC! Now when I was a kid, we had music...."

Y'know, I've noticed that a lot of the younger generations these days respect and are getting into older music (or least for them it's older, little bastards). It all depends on how cool the parents are, I guess.

It all depends on your taste in music,we are becoming more and more open minded and more musical generes become popular or at least accessible so it won't necessarily have to be something new as a music genere.
I would be really upset if my kid would end up listening to some mindless pop star or to some cheap rap like 50 cent(no offense but i really think that his music isn't what real rap means and what the hip hop culture stands for)
When I was like 11 I used to like Britney spears :)) that's probably the only time my mom protested against the music i listen to.It is quite funny to look back at those times:)

Maybe they will pull a reverse on us and start listening to Big Band or 50's style music.

more sexually-explicit, electronically-based hiphop, r'n'b, and rap. and when i say electronically-based, i mean a drum machine spits out all of the instrumentals, and as we get more advanced in technology, the sound of this music will change to reflect that.
