If they were an audience comprised of Victoria's Secret models, the former, though it wouldn't necessarily be as funny as it might be arousing.
If they were an audience comprised of average-looking people, either one. If their clothes vanished they'd be running for cover. And if their underwear vanished, there would be alot of confused, red faces. Heh heh.

making the crowd vanish would be funny to myself, the magician. making 'just their underwear' disappear wouldn't do anything, because I wouldn't really see their underwear disappear. making them go naked with just their underwear would be funny, but it may be slightly disturbing as well.

Just the underwear! The looks on their faces when they realize they no longer have bras, panties, boxers, etc, on would be hilarious, even if we could not see under their clothing.

just their underwear because they would feel their underwear gone but wouldnt say anything because they would think that they were they only ones and feel akward the rest of the night.
