Probably every intelligent person has asked this question. Looking back over my 65 years of life, it seems to me that everyone born has a purpose if they'll just look for it. Maybe it's as simple as being a good wife/husband, or a good parent that we may perpetuate the race of men. Some will become great engineers or politicians (if there actually is such a thing as a good politician) while others will become street bums. Those who search for their purpose in life will generally find it, while those who do not may wind up in the gutter. My own purpose was served, at least in part, by service in the military and involvement in aerospace. It was a good life and hopefully I still have more to accomplish before my clock winds down. Never stop asking that question and never stop searching for your purpose.

Obviously, I exist because my parents had unprotected sex and I have been able to survive up to this point. But I think you're asking about the purpose of my existence. Is there a reason why it is important for me to exist? I've asked that question to myself numerous times, and I have concluded that I simply do not know and have no way of knowing. Where I seem to differ from most people is in that I don't feel like I need an answer. I actually find a sort of freedom in my existential ignorance.

I view existence almost as a form of play... you don't ask "Why am I playing this game?". You instead play the game because it's interesting, challenging and fun. There is an intrinsic value in the game and in the game's participants that keep the game going. You could stop playing the game... but why? It would be like walking off the golf course because the bunkers and holes don't "mean" anything.

I exist to do research. That's my game, it's what I love and what I'm talented at. I don't even know why that's the case, but it's true. So I've determined I'm a bishop on a chess board, and I'm content to play the game that way.

Maybe when I was younger, but not anymore.

That's a question with no quantifiably definitive answer, and I prefer the facts, m'am.

Perhaps when I get to the pearly gates, they'll tell me and I'll say 'why didn't you tell me before you sent me?' And I'll make sure they tell me before they send me next time so I can have some better direction.

Of course, the whole challenge in life is to figure out not WHY you exist, but how you can BEST exist!

Yes, and I was blessed to be a teacher without being a teacher at the elementary and have been blessed every since to excel, and go forth toward degrees and didn't even realize I wanted to do this. I have such a way with troubled kids to calm them , I have learned this. I always wanted to be a counselor or psychiatrist or psychologist... perhaps this is what I was prepared to do... only with the younger generation

Yeah, it seems that I'm being punished for something I did or didn't do yet. I think I lost my instruction book somewhere. Should I ask for directions? I used to have a guardian um angel I think. Sometimes she would bring me medications and at least once she performed surgery on me by taking out my gallbladder with her fingers. Man did that hurt. People used to try to give me things like cars and money but I don't know what happened to them.Maybe they didn't exist either? Or why do my delusions exist?
