And mainly, why did the government allow houses to built directly in the path of certain destruction?

sorry to answer a question with a question, but do you rely on the government to wake you up in the morning and tuck you in at night? How about looking at it like this, the government is here to make sure we don't get attacked from other countries, set municipal laws and enforce them. That is it, the government should not be held accountable for this or Katrina or any other natural disaster, if every one in this country would take care of there own problems we would be allot more productive. Instead of asking who's to blame maybe you should be asking "what can i do to help?" it is not the governments place to babysit people and tell them that "you cannot build here" it should be common sense, if you live in Oklahoma, your probably going to see a few tornado's, if you live in California your probably going to feel an earth quake or see a fire and if you live near the coast you will probably at some point in time be hit by a hurricane. stop depending on other people to solve your problems for you and start counting on yourself.

You are talking about California's government right? If you paid any attention at all about New Orleans and Katrina, you would have learned that it is the state's, not the federal government's, responsibility to take first action with natural disasters. Fires have been happening in California forever. You can't blame Bush for this one.

A fifth U.S. Forest Service firefighter has died of burns suffered when flames from a deliberately set wildland fire overran his five-man crew in Southern California last week.

Twenty-three-year-old firefighter Pablo Cerda died at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in Colton.

Cerda was burned over 90 percent of his body Thursday in the Esperanza fire as he and four other firefighters tried to protect a home. Three crew members died at the scene, with a fourth dying later that day at a hospital.

it's like i said in your other post, fuel buildup isn't the only cause of spreading fires. high wind and low humidity cause them too. and let's count how many houses are built in or around the forest because the people themselves like living by nature, want to get out of the city, etc. and there are forests EVERYWHERE in the u.s., so it's impossible to build in other places all the time! i realize our government is a piece of crap, however some of these things are even out of the government's control - they're out of ANYBODY'S control, really (except for the arsonists who started the fire in the first place).

Why didn't the government send you a personal hygiene assistant to prevent problems with all that "natural" brown stuff that builds up over time and in your case is an overflowing disaster...
Hey maybe you can get the ACLU to starts a law suit than can compensate YOU for allowing you to be full of ***

I think the blame in this case is on the arsonist who started the fires.
The fire fighters were helping to save people, not just property.
How is a case of arson predictable as "certain destruction?"
Are we to burn all underbrush all over the country just in case an arsonist starts a fire?

Why don't you go to school and learn something about reality and life? I know what happened. They say that the fire in Calif was arson. You did it and you are trying to shift the blame to the government.
