This is the same state, which Bush visited and made speeches of helping farmers (agricultural sector) and also women, to support themselves...Of course, it is not Bush's job to improve the lives of our farmers, it is the job of my A.P state Govt. Slogan of our country quoted by our freedom fighters is' "Jai Jawan - Jai Kisan" (Hail the Soldier - Hail the Farmer), then why the farmers are killing themselves? Why does the Govt. does not stop this ?

Farmers are comitting sucide as they do not foresee a way out of their problems under the circumstances prevailing because
1. Farmers have no alternatie to loans without either paying high bribes or taking loan at exorbitant interest rates which becomes almost impossible to service.
2. Farmers do not get justice as justice is only for rich and well connected people. In case of a poor man FIRs are not registered and in court cases unending dates bleed the farmer of financial resources, mental strength, will to fight for the injustices done to them, harassment and resulting pathetic conditions for family and children. High and influntial can get dates easily and get matters settled within a sort period.
3. For every service and/ or product cost is decided by cost of input + labour cost+ service cost. Even a small time trader of vegitables buys in the morning (around 3-4 AM) adds his cost & profits and sells by 10 AM. For example a farmer tilts his land, sows vegetable, waters takes other care for months, transports produce to Mandi and sells say @ Rs. 500/- per 100 kg (Rs 5/- per kg). The persons who buys at 3-4 AM sells it @Rs. 10/- per kg by 10-11 AM. He makes Rs. 5/-per kg in 5-6 hours.
Farmer has no possibility to sell his produce at cost plaus basis.
3. Media and TV channels survive on the income from ads which are by industry. No survey has been done of the farmers bringing out facts which are causing these sucides and the conditions/ persons responsible for it.
4. India may be country habitated by farmers but conditions are not suitable for farmers. Farmers would also become extinct as some other species have become extinct. Only fittest would survive.

The main reason of suicides committed by farmers is their inability to repay the loan they take or get from governments.

The reasons for their inability for repayment are as follows:
•They have to pay a hefty bribe to agents of banks and politicians. It results in reduction of the loan amount to almost half
•Sometimes they take loan for some purpose and do not invest it in right place. They use it to eat away the money, repay some other loans, or drink liquor and enjoy their life
•When the time of repayment comes they find themselves unable to repay and when legal processes begins they commit suicide
•We can say that the farmers and corruption in the loan sanctioning process both are responsible for these suicides

‘Jai jawan jai kisan’ is a slogan given by ex prime minister late Lal Bahadur Shastry… however, now a day it is exploited for political motivated purposes.

Because the political class, press and the people that are the opinion makers are all middle class and dont give a damn for those who are not. Funnier still is that amid all the protests about reservations, protests about how bad the defence in India are, protests about forced conversions and what not, you very rarely have protests for people who are truly suffering in India. We have forgotten about them in our march to globalization. Farming has become a risky busines, but thats all the option any of the farmers have.. if this continues long enough, theres going to be a backlash from the farming community that will threaten food security, give rise to Naxalism and other forms of extremism as well. Its high time India paid attention to Kisans.

Hello Wallu....
I'm real sorry to hear about your neighbours...I don't quite understand what you're asking though. What does you're country say about it? Or the media there. Do they cover these stories and maybe have theory's on why the suicide rate is so high with the farmers. Maybe the farmers aren't able to provide for their families as well as they'd like to, thus they give up on life thinking their family would be better off without them. A lot of breadwinners who don't do good, believe their insurance would help the ones they leave behind by giving them money toward a better future. This is just my theory. I really think you need to talk to someone who knows your country better than I would.
I feel bad for your people. And wish you well.! ! !
God bless you and yours ! !

Dear friend u thought that Suicide is only in ur state.I m from maharashtra pune district from were Agriculture minister Mr Sharad pawar is from my district but as compare any other state suicide in maharashtra is more & in vidhrabh the percentage is more than in Western Maharashtra .
The Reasons are
1. In vidharbh farmer do natural farming.
2.They don't do Extra bussin which is related farming
For Eg: Milk production,poltry,etc
in western maharashtra farmer try and do the scientific farming
they keep knowledge of the price list of market.
They dont stick to the older thing they r ready to except changes .
if this things r followed by ur farmers the percentage of suicide will be less in A.p.
I hope u will Forward this Message to ur Farmers....

it is all us to blame man.. think if we elected the right person there will there be suicides ...
the wrong people make wrong policies....
and simply say that the "best is done"....
the media all are a reason....
the corrupt officials who buy the ice below the support price announced by the govt there the profit is nil for the farmar ...
if the farmar had taken loan .. he could not pay back the loan....
another is the timing of sowning of the seeds which he does according to the met department... the worst MET Dept in the world....
rising living cost ,,,.. his anxiety about the family and childrenn......
its high time that govt make some good thing for the farmar.. the same is the situation in my state of kerela ..... illteracy among the farmars.....

First of all suicide is caused by a state of depression. If there's nothing to do but farm and there's no ther means of recreation or centre to get away to then there will be suicide. The government in question should supply council for the desperate and recreation-centres for the boredom and education.

This is the master plan of the elites. They want farmers to get fedup and give up their lands so that they can buy it for a song. Ultimately they will take over farming and will bring latest technology to rule this nation for ever. Mark my words.
