That is a super question!!
Innocence has been crucified at the altar of ambitious progress.
As we progress, we are becoming more and more ambitious and are left with less and less time. Innocence of children was protected and nurtured by the adults by devoting their time to them. No time is free now-a-days for devoting to the kids, in this fast motion jam-packed life one leads.
The proof that this is how innocence has disappeared, lies in the fact that even today, in remote small villages, where life moves slowly and the latest gadgets and comforts of progress are yet to reach, innocence can still be found in plenty and even among the grown ups!!

In the trash heap with all the worthless, yearning "Catcher in the Rye" books.
Then again, look around -- I can't find one person to blame for all this "experience". We all have allibis and scapegoats, whothen shift the blame diffusely on. We are rather like children in this age, or child-kings, our standard of living is higher than monarchs' not 100 years ago... No one is accountable, everyone is satisfied, we hate the homeless because we envy them now -- the corporate workhorses don't have time to enjoy their royalty! What's the use of money and health without time?
Our innocence is linked with experience. Reality has finally become our toy.

I was thinking about this earlier today.Being a kid now is so different than when I was a kid.The drugs are so much more commonplace, kids learn things way to early now.I think back before there was the remote control and Atari was the bomb.We could be out late in the neighborhood because kids weren't kidnapped everyday. Its a sad world.

That my friend is a GREAT question! You are hearing from a Father who raised his children with TOTAL honesty. They were approached with drugs, they asked me and I told them what I had done and what it had done to me. That is: mentally physically and
so on. I am pleased to say that my boys turned out to be (2) two very differant people. My eldest is more adapt in my "hippie" life style; if you know what that was. If not; it was a concious awareness of what we did; or rather did NOT do as a country in a
tine during Viet Nam. I find so many simalarities in today it scares the hell out of me. Simply, because, a lot of; or rather most of; the kids in my sons' generation have that X- crap! They do not seem to care about anything but themselves. There in is the exit of: the
"innocense factor". Now I guess I was just as guilty as everyone else in my generation; in the sense of; telling truth's and only truth's to my children. They knew about the acid I took yada -on-and so-on. I ended up talking my eldest son down from a bad trip one night. Talk about a flash - back! Where had the innocense gone?! I, nor my eldest son; who is now 29 pushing thirty with a baby beginning in his family; have nor will we ever forget that evening. I guess Poppa got, or rather earned some streets that night, in front of his brother, who's only 13 months younger. Now all of this is straight talk from a Father, BUT; their high school had to put in metal detectors, for obvious reasons. The dope was all over that school and every other one in South Florida. Even in the Gables, the richie Rich part . So as you can see there are a lot of reasons. The only one I didn't touch on, which is one that we as a family practiced; and that was: yes, we went to church every Sunday. If families made God part of their lives, we would be in a lot better shape in the Good 'ol US of A. Like we used 2 B. Thanks for the question, I hope I helped.

Great Question! ... It was "nano-miniaturized", put inside the gadgets of our minds, and promptly flushed out of our souls by our collective market-induced, exponentially growing, and ignorance-supported, self-interest. ... It is still there, just in nano-size time-released doses, necessary for basic survival in the concrete jungle environments. In the olden days some primitive societies were concern about girls losing their virginity prematurely, now it seems the "technologically civilized" society must worry about its youngsters losing their innocence before the age of 3! :-(

The data bank of knowledge opaques the innocence buried deep within, waiting for the wisdom to dawn and revive it.

In the arms of temptation. That temptation that labels itself 'All innocent people are naive; in order to succeed in today's society, you need to forget about kindness and follow your own interest.'

When I was a kid (40+ years ago) my stepbrothers and stepsisters were monstrously evil to me.
We have never been innocent. Now we are simply less deluded.

Video didn't kill the radio star, MTV killed innocence. But it also had a lot of help from hedonism, and secular humanism.
