My best friend all through Jr. High, Highschool & college joined A/A in 1995. We had no contact for 2 years prior I felt he was "gone". Yet he showed up, encouraged me to maintain contact and then disappeared never to be heard from again..........I contacted him through classmate.com and was ignored. A mutual friend told me "he's not interested in getting together". I feel very weird about the whole thing. We had too, too many good memories over waaay too many years.........
Any comments???

Just ask the guy about this issue. If he is not interested to be your friend, move on. There are lots of people out there waiting for you to be your best friend. You just need to open your heart for them. Friend come & go with time. There's nothing forever in this world because that's how we human progress keep on learning & created new things. This also apply to friendship & love.

hey, i think you refreshed my memories too. i had a similar experience like you before. i tried to renew the friendship between with my guy friend as he also tried to ask me to reconcile after 3 yrs time. but when i decided to let go of the past memories, he let go of the new relation again. i was really upset and cried over a few nights. so i asked alot of my friends and many of them said my guy friend was only trying to find some fun & excitement out of his boring, daily life. i agreed and thought they were right. so my best advice is, don't let your friend come and ruin your routine life. he's more like toying with your feelings only. it's more like you're to him, a challenge which he wants to conquer. he only wants to test you, to show if he's right about you that you still wish to renew your friendship with him. once you've been taken in, he got his way and disappear again. it's an ego thingy. take it easy, more friends will sure come along your way. don't let him affect you in any way, i've got over mine and if 1 day, he reappears again, give him a natural look and act as if he never appear in your life for the 2nd or 3rd time. make sure you live much better than him and you've lead a great life without him. i've faith in you and let's work towards a better future together! hurray!!

If you were one of his drinking buddy's he'll stay away from you to avoid that lifestyle again. If you have also quit drink drinking, let him know and he might be ready to reconcile.
