You would start your race on the corner 4 X 100m final exchange zone (front straightaway, usually the steeplechase water jump area) run 1 lap from there and finish at universal finish line, you always want to finish at the universal finish line even in practices, that's where you're gonna finish in races always simulate race situations in your practices.

1 lap is 400 yards 400 yards x 4 is 1600 yards x 3 is a mile so it is 1 lap and 50 more yards for half a lap. 600 is 1.5 laps.
