i have heard people talking abt usa everywhere. They tend to believe that USA is a paradise where they wish to go. I'm a USA citizen so wherever i go; they think its a big deal to be from usa. I mean why dont they prefer other places such as Uk, france, canada or australia. Aint' these countries good enough! whats so special abt USA. No matter if people are from canada, uk, or australia, they still want to settle down somewhere in usa. I accept that USA has the best education system, best technology, high standards of living but other countries are doing good too. I met a few people from europe, they wished they could settle down in usa. It doesnt matter to me i believe wherever you are that place is the perfect one. MOstly canadians or australians tend to leave their country just to get into usa, is it true, or is it just a myth
plz some one explain this to me. thanks

I don't get it either!
No offence intended, but I have no desire to visit let alone settle in the US. 18 hours in JFK airport was more than enough for me.
I'm a New Zealander and I think my country is a great place to live.
I've lived in Australia and it's a great place to live too.
I spent last year in Siberia, and am living in Mexico this year. Also great places to be.

The US offers the fantasy of big bucks and a better lifestyle for people from poor countries.

Why have I left the haven of my own sweet country? Because I needed to experience the rest of the world to truly appreciate where I come from.
I now utterly respect people from other countries, and understand why they want to leave where they're from. I discourage most from making the move because they won't find what they're looking for.

I can't answer for the Canadians, but the majority of Australians & New Zealanders who land in the US are only there for a relatively short time..make some money & head back home.
Far more Australians & New Zealanders head for the UK. For the same reasons, but often end up settling there.
Also, New Zealanders & Canadians seem to hit it off well. Something to do with sharing that British descent & being part of the Brit Commonwealth for so many years.

I guess you need to do some adventure travel yourself to fully understand where these foreigners are coming from.

Hey 'lost hope', thanks for asking your question minus angry invective. I reckon you're a pretty nice person!

Just as 'funnana' said, who wouldn't want to live in the best country in the world? It's a land of immigrants (even before it was called the USA) with maybe the Native Indians being an exception. It's a very free and a beautiful country which includes its people. There are lots of democratic countries in the world that have a lot of problem due to their culture and society. If they don't have it going good in their own country, they want to escape, and that also to the best place. Do you know Australia and Canada have more racism than in the USA? I've experienced it.

Nothing is special about the US, it's just that the people from the Latin countries are trying to get up north into Canada. There's already a large Mexician population within Canada's borders

You stated it yourself - "...USA has the best education system, best technology, high standards of living..."

Yes, other countries are great places to live as well, but we also have great social programs and our pay scale is greater. You should also factor in that people always believe the grass is greener somewhere else. They don't know about our incredibly long work hours, the fact that we still have a lot of poverty here, high crime etc.

Everybody wants to go to America because of all of the freedoms. Heck, look at all of the criminals. They have more rights than the victims do. You can pretty much get away with almost anything anymore, unless you commit a crime in Texas. I wish I could swap places with somebody from another country. I would be glad to get out of America.
