Gosh that's really hard. I like both of them, for different reasons. When you watch them both... you really can tell the difference between the kind of movie they'd put out in 1984, and that of 1987... particularly with the soundtracks being major features of both.
I guess I'd have to say that Dirty Dancing would just have the edge on Footloose.

Boy, that's tough. If I'm in a romantic mood, "Dirty Dancing." If I feel like something lively, "Footloose."
I don't think one is better than the other - they're different but I would say equally good in their own way.

Welllll. In my considered and discerning opinion either of those little Hollywood offerings are pure and utter crap-o-la. However, because my cable hookup provides me with seventy odd channels and Dirty Dancing is on at least five of them at any given hour of the day or night, I have to assume it's the better of the two. May Patrick Swayze come down with hammer toe.
