When are we honest about cannabis? With legalising it we cut down the crime rate by 50% and we can talk like civilized people. While I was working as a computer engeneer I visited many homes and many people including policemen, bankers, politicians and they shared a smoke with me. And none of them was a low level participant. Stop lying and legalize it.
By making it illegal we only help the crooks and terrorists to get rich and destabelising society.

I just like to add a little point or two.
1) Smokers are not criminals but they are made to feel that they are criminals I think thats wrong.
2.) It seems to work in the Netherlands
3) When I had depressions, my doc gave me some stuff that made me really suicidal and violent.
4) What grows in nature can't be that bad, it is only the pharma Industry which makes things bad.

Agree. It's just not the done thing to admit it. I've smoked it for years but there's still certain people I wouldn't tell ie work colleagues, because there's such a stigma and I've experienced people thinking all of a sudden I some kind of junkie with 'a problem' when I've told them. Yet these are the same people who think it's perfectly ok to go out, get totally drunk, fall over showing their knickers or get into a fight - how come alchohol's so socially acceptable when it's such an anti-social 'drug' - yes it is a drug, too! I've never seen anyone behave in such a way after smoking a bit weed. It should be legal - there'd be sooo much more love in the world!

Cannabis can help you chill out. It, like everything else, can also be abused. I am a believer in cannabis becoming legal but it is no different to alcohol. You can abuse it and it can ruin your life. Habitual smokers lose motivation, smoke to avoid pretty much every facet of life and can become depressed. In the same way that alcohol makes some people cry, some laugh and others get violent then cannabis does exactly the same to people in it's own special way.
It's not legal yet because it would require a huge turnaround on the governments behalf especially in the form of taxes. A proven cannabis tester for drivers would have to be ready to go and there would be huge changes in the law in order to cover all possibilites. As someone has already said, the tobacco companies would hold dominion over legalized cannabis which would not be a great thing.
Depression is one of the major symptoms of habitual cannabis use, like everything else drug related there has to be elements of self control. What's the difference between someone getting up a nine in the morning and having a whiskey and someone getting up and having a joint?

The reclassification of cannabis isn't purely about cutting crime, it is also about protecting individuals from the mental health problems that can develop and get quite serious as a consequence for some people.
More people do cannabis than will admit too, I don't think it would go down too well for a politician or police officer to admit that they do it really when it is against the law.
The reclassification debate goes on and on and I don' think you will see an end to it just yet, although the law has slighty relaxed in that some officers are not so concerned about a small amount of cannabis. This does not go for all, and it is still against the law!!

I agree with you; cannabis is (in my opinion) more beneficial than cigarette; a few years back there was a highly controversial research that reach the conclusion that cannabis smoke actually protect against lung cancer. However most people are not comfortable with substance that makes u high; also there is this mentality that everybody else will abuse it only I won’t. So in the short term while everyone use it they cannot face a society where it is legal and everybody else can use it. However hopefully this will change in a decade or less as current generation enter society and makes the drug more socially acceptable.

Your argument is that sensible everyday people use cannabis but that has never been the problem. The problem is with all the chavs and wasters who use it as a lifestyle.
I agree the main problem is the cannabis culture where the dealer is celebrated and looked up to. But I certainly don' think we should legalise the stuff.

The country is moving in that direction. Many states have decriminalized marijuana, but the original laws are still in place. If the social trend towards accepting this drug continues its current direction, eventually the laws will be over turned or changed. This will not happen without a fight, just like alcohol faced (i.e. prohibition).

it is and addictive drug that makes human beings lazy, paranoid and frequently lead aimless criminal existence. So no! It motives chest and throat circumstances including bronchitis and it clogs up the lungs. It makes a man or woman seem ill as properly. The assessment to the different drug including alcohol is ultimate responded this way. A punch interior the face is way less painful than a slap interior the face yet i would not decide for to be slapped interior the face! Legalizing or making drugs unlawful would not help addicts to end and goodness is acquainted with society desires much less drug addicts not greater addicts doing it legally! To Zach below: definite I do think of all highway drugs are undesirable and definite pupils who smoke pot in college or college are criminals via fact pot is illegitimate, duh! definite pot is addictive - i replaced into hooked on it for 6 very long and miserbale years! Zach while you're mentally or bodily hooked on any drug, what's the version. you're addicted and could't end! definite pupils that smoke it are preferable a criminal existence type via fact pot is illegitimate. we've already coated that factor. it is likewise my adventure that ninety% of pot human beings who smoke do it in basic terms approximately on a daily basis. might it is wonderful on your e book for somebody just to do heroin now and back socially? it is stated as fidgeting with hearth.

Depends what country you're in. It's acommon misconception in the UK that it's legal, when it's actually decriminalised only. Personally I'd rather it weren't legal. Drugs aren't particularly good for you, you know.
