Do you get a headache when you don't have it everyday? And, do you let your children have it, I mean young children?

Yes it is! My Independant Baptist grandma who thinks everyone who smokes is going to hell because they're addicted to a drug is so addicted to caffeine that she actually puts coffee grounds in her mouth in the morning while she's waiting on the coffee to make if she forgets to set the timer & have the coffee ready when she gets up in the morning, No, my baby will not have it, like in chocolate & his grandparents know that if they give it to him that he will not be going back to their house (without me) for a very long time!

I know caffeine is an addictive drug. I was a daily caffeine consumer since I was a little kid (Coke then Dr. Pepper) and lots of coffee. Then I decided to completely give it up since I wanted to give up soda b/c it was destroying my teeth (and I'm sure it just wasn't healthy for me anyway). I had a headache the 1st day. Then on the 2nd day I had a headache that was worse than any I'd ever had in my life. That afternoon I puked up lunch. That night I just ate a bowl of rice for dinner hoping I could keep that down, but I puked that right back up too. It was horrible. I'm sure that was because I was addicted to it for 15 years before I gave it up. Now I still have a Red Bull or some coffee every now and then but not more than twice a week. And when I do, it's freaking awesome because it has way more effect now.

I don't think caffeine's addictive...I KNOW it is! I've been drinking coffee -the only type of soda I drink is Ginger Ale, and that is rarely- since I was twelve or thirteen and the longest I've gone without it is three days. And I felt like absolute crrrrap! I mean, I love coffee- love the taste as well as the good old caffeine rush- but it's worse than cigarettes as far as I'm concerned (is it any wonder how the two often go hand in hand...usually ciggie in one and cup o' Joe in the other!) I mean, don't even TALK to me till I've had at least one ciggie and two cups of coffee, okay? Do I know it's not the healthiest vice? Of course, but considering the world could end tomorrow, WTF, you know? I never let anybody bi-ch at me about it, though...I always say, "I've done worse things than coffee and cigarettes." (Which is true; C & C are the true LAST of my vices.) However, I don't think caffeine's for kids though...generally kids are hyper enough without it.

I drink about 4-6 cups every morning and I do get headaches once in a while. My kids love Starbucks. The little ones (5 & 8) drink their chocolate milk with whipped cream. My 13 y/o loves caramel frappacinos, which I limit her to maybe one a week. Her middle school banned energy drinks and caffeine carbonated drinks. But, they still let them bring Starbucks on campus, which to me is a conflict of interest.

the headaches are caused by caffeine withdrawal, it'll stop after a week or so, depends on the person. as for giving it to kids, not a good idea.

I cut down when I was pregnant and had a migraine for, no kidding, like 3 months! I'm totally addicted, have been for years. Don't let my kids have it, though. Maybe in high school.

Hell yes it's addictive, everything that I consume contains caffeine! I hope THAT doesn't cause cancer in 10 years like everything else..
