I think for working model conic sections are the best options. You must have seen the visualizations while playing songs n winamp and media player, those are nothing but combinations of parabola, ellipse and hyperbola and others too.

Basically you need to think about what the numbers and formulae actually mean. Of the top of my head I can't think of anything to prove pytagoras' theorem that isn't mutually redundant. But if Pythagorus could get it, you should be able to as well.

After giving it a bit of thought, you could work out the distance between the corners of the triangles using calculus (integrate the difference between the positions), but that can't have been the way Mr. Pi did it the first time around.

if you want to build a water tank of capacity 1000 ltr, you have to use the formula for volume of water: lx bx h where l is length b is breadth and h is height and all are equal to 1m.
hence, 1000 ltr of water can be stored in a tank 1mx1mx1m
for higher capacity change any of these parameters

u can make different types of buildings with different shapes such as domes and all(temple) and calculate the area of the marble that has to be fixed in the walls from outside.
