It's all in your weight and leg strength. Run stairs and hills or draga tire or something that increases the muscles you use most when running. And lose any extra body fat you can afford to lose.

I play DT i am a sompmore.. what i would do is allot of jump rope because it will increase your agility, and thats important for running a good 40.. Also squat allot of weight so you will get muscle on ur legs.. if u dont like squat like i dont do leg press.. If u get a 4.4 - 4.7 40 time and if ur really big then you should be the best DT because u have the power to dominate o linemen and even catch the QB.

it's gonna be tough shaving a whole second off ur time...5.7 is kinda slow even for a lineman. Do exercises that will improve ur foot speed and leg turnover. Run up and down hills, and use a parachute or weights and do sprints. You need to build up ur fast twitch muscles.

i know i suck i run like 4.something but my 100 is way better its not all about speed iam the fastest guy on the team but it takes me a while to get to a full sprint just try doing that or run stairs we have to run up 100 flights every day in school like 5 flights then run to other side 5 more to 100

Run more and do wind sprints, also get in the pool

Of course I probably couldn't even run 40 yards without passing out now!!!
