They do things themselves but more often pay someone to do some thing. Sometimes a woman may have a father who likes to do things.

This is how single women and even many married women get things done (when they're married to someone who can't or won't do stuff around the house).

Sometimes - if the job is too much for her to do and if she can't afford to hire someone - it doesn't get done. Either a new one gets bought or else the old one remains broken until the end of time.

Point 1: If a person is single getting this stuff done is her own problem. If a person is not single getting such stuff done is both of their problem.

Point 2: Some men prefer to do stuff themselves rather than pay someone to do work - so sometimes that's their choice.

Yes! Where is my friendly helpful guy in jeans and a flannel shirt who will clean my gutters, install a new door, and paint my deck? I get so behind on these things because I have to get the right tools, etc. I guess I will plod along and work on the most pressing chore. I call the list a Honey Me List!

Women can do all their own "honey do" jobs themselves. :-) The things that require professionals get done by professionals. Such as washer/dryer repair; plumbing, although minor problems, such as dropping your diamond earing down the drain, you just get a wrench and take the pipes apart, then shake the earing out. Quite simple.

If women pretend they're helpless, then they'll appear needy... they'll most likely attract men who'll stick them like a big barnacle on a rock.

Wouldn't the expectation for men to share in household chores also include women doing jobs which were deemed "men's jobs" in the past? Such as changing your own tire, putting up your own shelves, plunging the toilet, unclogging your drains... Wouldn't it be considered a sort of a double-standard if you expect your partner to take part in household chores and you don't "fix things" in the house yourself? Where's the equality in that?

If you pretend your all helpless and "girlish", then you'll just end up being "dead weight" on your partner, wouldn't you? *sighs!* :-|

My mom is a single parent and she always managed to find time to get things around the house done and work a full time job. If you have your priorities straight and know how to schedule time, you can accomplish anything you set your mind to.

I am single and first I check it out ....to see if I can do it myself .
then If i can I do....if I can't ...then i have a friend or relative help out ....but I never ask too much ..some jobs are to big to impose on a friend or relative ..so I pay to have it done.
Peace

My daughter has that situation. Through the years she has learned how to do some plumbing, she can change a light fixture and do some basic electric work. She can plaster, lay ceramic tile and has a good knowledge base of carpentry work. Her father has taught her alot over the years.
