why is if a woman stays single she's called an old maid and a guy is called a bachelor, is it somehow worse to be alone if your a woman?

People I know don't use the term, "old maid". Where I come from that's something people used to call women who never marry and are older but don't any longer.

well yes i think that when a woman lives alone she can be mistreated by men and also in india the society does not accept a women staying alone without a huband hence girls are married by the age of 24.

its always assumed a man wants to be free but a woman cant get a man if shes single, however in this day and age i dont think its looked at quite that way.

I don't think it is some how worst. Their is a double standard for women and men. If a man sleeps around he is a pimp and if a women sleeps around she is a s*lut

A womans beauty is more tied to her youth than is a mans...
