I had to check to make sure by watching a race, and I saw it confirmed. The drivers have a whole bunch of logos on their jumpsuits just like on the car. To me it doesn't make sense because no one is going to see the logos on the driver because he is in the car the whole race, and I thought the whole point of those logos was for consumers to see them. People at home can't see them for the reason I just stated. Fans at the race can't see them because even when the racer is out of his car, they are too far away for the fan to see any logos beside the main sponsor logo on the back. All the different logos on the front are too small. The more I thought about it, the less sense it made for there to be so many logos on the actual jumpsuit of the driver.

Hi Robert!
The short answer to your question would be that these "logos" on drivers are seen by not only by the 90,000 to 160,000 at each event, but by the millions upon millions of fans who watch it on TV.

What keeps Nascar going is the awesome racing, great drivers, loyal fans, and of course.........sponsorship.

You are contradicting yourself when you say "no one is going to see the logos on the driver because he is in the car the whole race". "I had to check to make sure by watching a race, and I saw it confirmed." Sponsors pay $$$millions to see their company logo on a firesuit, because it is a proven marketing tool.....and it works.

Watch a race in its entirety and you will notice more logos than you can keep track of, because Speed TV, FOX NBC etc will interview about 50-60 people before, during, and after a race.......owners, pit crew, drivers, and that's not even counting the TV ads in between, with famous drivers, usually wearing their race gear, full of logos.

Some fans are so obsessed, they could name all sponsors on a driver's uniform blindfolded...lol

All these companies want is exposure................hoping you buy their products in the near future. Almost 90% of published drivers' photos (ie. magazines) show them in full uniform with all the logos. Yep, these guys are walking billboards.

Lets say your favorite driver wins the race, he will also drive home with a huge $$$ bonus from every sponsor you see on his uniform. For example Coca-Cola might give his team say, $25,000 or so for winning the race, not counting the winner's purse.

Advertising pays..........however tiny the ad is, people will see it, plain and simple.

I just did a paper on the business of NASCAR and everyone is right, it is about the money. Corporations and organizations invest millions of dollars sponsoring drivers, cars, events, etc. There is a lot of marketing strategy that goes into the placement of the logos on the driving suits and the cars. It is about being seen on TV and in photos which appear in newspapers and on the Internet and become part of the history of the sport. The more visible the logo, the more it costs, but there is more potential for return.

Plugging the sponsors is big in NASCAR, also. What is funny is that when Sponsor A sponsors an event or award and the corporate competition has to "not" mention the other guy. Examples: Kurt Busch (drives for Miller beer) holding a "Bud" (as in Budweiser) Pole award; the guys on Speed Report calling O'Reilly Raceway Park, "the track formerly known as IRP" because they are sponsored by Advance Auto Parts.

The corporate logos are there for when the driver is interviewed on T.V. There are also cameras in the car that show the driver and sometimes you see the logos then. It all comes down to money. Pepsi and DuPont spend a lot of money on Jeff Gordon and they want to make sure that the fans know what to buy.

Hmm, if it has been you dream for the last 15 years since you were 4 to be a nascar driver; that would make you 19 years old and you would not need to ask your Dad. Hey I wanted to be a nascar driver this morning , but got talked out of it. Best of luck though.

Well usually the same logos that are on the car are on his suit. They are for sponsorship. And I guess people who watch at home can see the logos...u said u tuned in and apparently that's how u saw them.

The owners get paid for all logos. The smaller and less visible the less they get paid. The ones on uniforms (I'm guessing) would be most visible at interveiws with winners or almost all well known drivers are interviewed before the race and the logos can be seen then.

Sponsors.

If the dude wins the race, he'll get out of his car and people will see him and then the little advertising thing takes place.

Racecar driving is extremely expensive and they need sponsors.
Some sponsors do it for advertising while others do it for the pride of their company and the love of the sport.
