adenine: C5H5N5 Thymine: C5H6N2O2 Guanine: C5H5N5O Cytosine: C4H5N3O. Each one of these also has a phosphate suger backbone.

where Guanine and Cytosine fuse has three hydrogen bonds. Adenine and Thymine have two hydrogen bonds.

It is like a zipper because when u zip up say a jacket each side has something that fits just perfectly with the other side. well DNA has four nucleotides and only two possibilities of fusion Guanine with Cytosine and Thymine with Adenine. GC-AT (G cat) easy way to remember. Well it works as a zipper because say one side is GAGCT the other side has to be CTCGA for it to interlock.
