Ignore the negative action and refuse to respond to it. If you do not engage in verbal banter with someone who is obviously looking for someone to be rude to then you slowly train them to treat you with respect if they wish to get any response from you. When possible find something nice to say out of the blue to those who are rude. It baffles them and makes them think about whether or not they really want to antagonize you or begin to be nice to you so you might continue to stroke their obviously dangling ego. Most important though is what I said at first. Refuse to engage in an argument that should never even have started. If you do , it will only lead to stress and anger on your part and you have let the rude nobody have control over you for whatever amount of time you waste on being angry at them. No one can treat you in a way that you do not let them. Whether it be on purpose or because you simply failed to see it coming. Know thy enemy and expect the worst, but project the best.

Nothing works better then just being nice to them. No one says you have to sink to their level to match wits. Remember the saying when you were young... treat other people how you want to be treated; because it works in the long run.

Just smile nicely and walk away. If they follow you tell them you are in a hurry.

Mock the Devil and he will run and hide. Another strategy is to quietly expose them.

just continue being nice to them. one thing they subconsciously want you to do is to engage you in a word war so dont stoop to their level. If they can live with themselves, you can live with it.
