I'm playing this game called Harvest Moon GBC (there were 3 for game boy color the one i'm playing is the first) and anyways the elf asks me to give up my sickle and he'll give me a golden one in about 12 hours. So i give it to him but he doesn't ever give me a new one. he doesn't even give me back the old one. He also does the same thing with the hoe. Well is this just a problem within the game? Or is it something i forgot to do with the elfs?

pamela apparently didn't read your question, and also claimed she played BtN on Gba, but BtN was only on PS. she played FoMT, which is quite similar to BtN.

to answer the question properly - it's real time

Golden Sickle: After you give the Harvest Sprites a total of 30 mushrooms Harvest Sprite #1 (the one in the main cave) will ask you how the sickle works. If you say it works well he will take it and improve it. If you say it's not he'll tell you that you're using it wrong and you'll never get it. He'll give it to you in twelve real hours. The Golden Sickle cuts a 3x3 square around you.
-----------------
Golden Hoe: After the Golden Sickle is yours talk to Harvest Sprite #1 and he'll ask you the same thing about the Hoe that he did the Sickle. Say that the hoe works well and in 24 real hours you'll have the Golden Hoe, which tills six squares in front of you. Say it doesn't work well and you can kiss the tool good-bye.

You must take a look at a few castlevania. Just announcing its lovely well. You would additionally take a look at gambling Yugioh or Duelmasters Trading card video games. Or an extra well sequence is the Megaman Zero and Megaman Battle Network sequence, that are THE BEST!!!!
