My mother knew this little girl, (mother was a teenager at time...) this little girl was very sickly and pale, but like a little doll, very pretty, other kids didn't play with her and she thought nobody liked her, poor things mother was a drug addict, anyway her name was Amber. My mother promised her if she had a little girl she would name her Amber too, after her, because she was a special little girl.

I was named after the little girl my mom took care of as a teenager. Her name was Jackie. My mom wanted Jacqueline but she couldn't come up with a middle name she liked, so she split it up - Jackie Lynn.

I have been told that my Yiddish name is for a great aunt (the sister of my grandmother's mother). I knew my great-grandmother and her brother, Joe, but I never knew this aunt I'm indirectly named for.
