They are attracted because it sounds like they have answers, they make it sound like they can solve all of your problems and give you this perfect life, except.... you must pay for these answers, their ethics of science go against what most scientists would call proven fact, i belive in freedom of religion but at what point does religion cross over into fanatic cult type societies.

You can do a lot without physicaly "making" a person do something. Now correct me if I am wrong, but you must pay to be audited, and you say that you can not be audited while on any medication? So it would seem to me that it would be in the best interest of the "church" for you not to be on medication, especially psyciatric medication because that is required to be taken every single day. Almost every thing I have heard back from scientologists seems to lead back to some very basic things, the churchs' best interests far out weight that of its followers, do to the need for them to pay the church for services. And, Fear of criticism.

I've seen that video, I usually include a link to it every time I answer a question about Scientology. This is what I usually have to say on the subject -

This is what Scientologists ACTUALLY believe:

Xenu was an alien ruler of the "Galactic Confederacy" who, 75 million years ago, brought billions of people to Earth in spacecrafts resembling Douglas DC-8 airliners, stacked them around volcanoes and blew them up with hydrogen bombs. Their souls then clustered together and stuck to the bodies of the living. The alien souls continue to do this today, causing a variety of physical ill-effects in modern-day humans. L. Ron Hubbard (a science-fiction writer and the creator of Scientology) called these clustered spirits "Body Thetans," and the advanced levels in Scientology place considerable emphasis on isolating them and neutralizing their ill effects.

To rid ourselves of "Body Thetans" and also “engrams” (past negative experiences stored in our unconscious mind) so that we can become “clear”, we have to go through "auditing" with a member of the “church” who uses an "e-meter" to measure our “reactive mind”...... and we have to pay lots and lots and lots of money for “auditing” (purchased in 12.5-hour blocks, costing anywhere from $750 for introductory sessions to between $8,000 and $9,000 for advanced sessions) and to take courses on Scientology to advance to higher “levels” in the “church”. The “church” has also taken a very hostile stance towards psychiatry and psychiatric drugs irrespective of the fact that some people require medication to remain adequately functional in everyday life and has been known to withhold prescription pharmaceuticals from member (with deadly results).

Scientology is undeniably a cult. Every cult can be defined as a group having all of the following five characteristics:

(1) It uses psychological coercion to recruit, indoctrinate and retain its members. (2) It forms an elitist totalitarian society. (3) Its founder leader is self-appointed, dogmatic, messianic, not accountable and has charisma. (4) It believes 'the end justifies the means' in order to solicit funds & recruit people. (5) Its wealth does not benefit its members or society.

Cults are extremely harmful. To remain within the strict mental and social confines of a cult for even a short time can have the following disastrous effects:

Loss of choice and free will. Diminished intellectual ability, vocabulary and sense of humor. Reduced use of irony, abstractions and metaphors. Reduced capacity to form flexible and intimate relationships. Poor judgment. Physical deterioration. Malnutrition. Hallucinations, panic, dissociation, guilt, identity diffusion and paranoia. Neurotic, psychotic or suicidal tendencies.

It is for this very reason that wars are waged. As soon as a potention "crack head" learns for themselves a certain religion then all others are to follow that standing. That is why there are many categorial institutions claiming their interpretation is correct. No different that choosing a mate or deciding what clothes to wear. Scientology is the study of our spiritual being through the use of sciene deemed as being logical. It is the seperation of internal faith and proof of that faith. Not everyone can see within themselves or others. Religion such as this serves its purpose on some level. Why cant it be seen as a gateway to deeper spiritual understanding and possibly convergence? Everything starts everwhere and ends someplace so long as opinions are taken as simple attributes of an individuals personality.

Thank you for your concern. I'm a Technical Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force and I have been involved in many deployments including operation Iraqui Freedon and Enduring Freedom. I can give you my miltary e-mail address for confirmation. And I'm also a Scientologist. I'm sorry to burst your bubble but Scientologist don't believe in Aliens. The story of Xenu is just a fable like the story Jonah in the Whale in the bible. Fables are not intended to be taken seriosly.
About Lisa McPherson it was determined by several forensic examiners that "Lisa McPherson, died suddenly and unpredictably of a blood clot in her left lung that originated from a knee bruise she suffered in a minor auto accident 17 days earlier." The forensic examiner that originaly said that Lisa died of dehidration and bed rest (Dr Joan Woods) admited that she didn't perfom the autopsy and afther examining the facts she changed the cause of death of Lisa to be natural.

About Lisa being removed from the hopital to be taken to the church, that was done by Lisa's own request. In Judge Quesada's own words "Based on the undisputed facts of this case, plaintiff has not made and cannot make a showing that Lisa McPherson was unlawfully restrained 'against her will' by the defendants. In fact, all of the evidence indicates the opposite. Lisa McPherson refused psychiatric observation or admission at the hospital; she expressly stated her desire to receive the religious care and assistance from her fellow congregants"

Also Lisa was active eating and drinking 48 hours before she died, the pictures that you saw in that web site were taken days afther she was dead. That's why she looks like a cadaver. Daaa.
Mr Havenith died of Natural causes just when he was about to take a shower. It looks like before he died he grabed hold of the hot water faucet. And the hot water burner his skin. Weird but weird stuff happens. This could have happened in any hotel even in Disney Land.
Scientologist do go to the doctor and take medications like any other person. But a Scientologist can't be Audited while they are in medication so some of then choose to stop taking their medication againts Church policy. Scientology never removes any one from their medication but warms about the addictive and harmfull effects of Psichyatric drugs.
A lot of people that visit the church of Scientology are in bad shape and even suicidal. Supose that that kid had visited a Christian church before commiting suicide, can you blaim the Christian church for his death?
Hariet Baker choose to morgage her house to pay for her auditing, this was her right. It was her kids that didn't like the way her mother was expending her money and asked for a refund. It was determined that Hariet Baker was happy with her Auditing so no refund was issue. I don't know why everytime a scientologist goes visit someone to discuss a disagreement they call it harasment.

There are 10 million of Scientologist in the planet living happy and fruitfull lives.

My friend I'm sorry but theunfunnytruth site is just Nazy propaganda. And is no more credible than the sites that say that 9/11 was a plot from the goverment and that the hollocaust never happened.
The reason that Scientology is attacked so much is because it works and the pharmaceutical companies will lose Billions if people stop using Psychiatrics drugs. Hey if you are happy they can't make money of you. That's why they say that depression is treatable and not curable.
Like the book "Natural Cures they don't want you to know about" says "they don't want to cure you if they cure you thay can't make money of you"
