Where I am from, there seems to be an epidemic of black men dating white women. I am an African-American female from California. I sometimes wonder what it would be like to date a different race. Tell me what you think about this topic. Do you think it is right or wrong? Should races be able to mingle without criticism?

For the passed few weeks, I have been asking myself the same question. I am a white female from California and there's this boy. He's african-american and I wonder all the time what it would be like if we dated. I have friends who tell me they wouldn't like it if i dated a black guy. And probably if he and I were to date, there would be a mixture of opinions. When he and I talked about dating he told me that he didn't have anything aginst it but his old-fashioned southern father definantly would. When he told me this I was stunned. I didn't know that sort of thing was still occuring. I'm aware of racial profiling and steriotyping, but i never thought a parent would openly dissapprove of something as harmless as two people of a different race being together. I personally have no problem with interracial dating... (mixed kids are always the cutest anyways haha) But something else I worry about to myself is that if we dated, he would say he liked me and wanted to be with me but I would worry that he'd always have a preference for african-american girls... This isn't really an answer... just a "hey i'm wondering the same things" type of answer... but those are just a few things I think about. hope to hear back from you!

I figure that, if the two are right for each other, race should be secondary. The only difficulty I can see arising that really makes a difference is how each partner's family will react to the match. My father told me he would disown me if I ever dated a black man (I'm white), and I could never figure out why such a thing would be so bad. It isn't like I'd be murdering someone or stealing. Anyway, I did not end up dating a black man, but I still found it ridiculous and small-minded to hear him say that and realized that cultural and generational differences would come into play within families on this issue.

Personally, I'm all for it if the two are right for each other; however, if they consider marriage, it is necessary to assess what effect it will have on their respective families and to plan accordingly.

It's fine by me. The white women and black men is an epidemic on this side of the country too. I really don't care. If I like the person, it won't be just because of their race, that's for sure.

I am white and once dated an African-Canadian (if there is such as thing.) I thought she was great. She had a great family and we shared a lot of interests. You know it's only as good as u make it. If others get in your face, maybe not if they're family, then what's the prob?

I do not think it is wrong. There are challenges such as dealing with other people's disapproval. Of course people of differing races and ethnic groups should be free to mingle. Diversity makes life interesting. each person has to decide what they feel comfortable with as an individual.

It's fine, whatever they like, it's their business.

Families sometimes have a problem with it, if they decide to get married. That can create some extra problems for their children. They should consider that.

But how else are we going to get over this ridiculous racial prejudice that has plagued our country for 300 years? If we get to a point where nobody is racially pure, then that will all have to change.

It is the greatest evil in the world today. If the people of a given race do not reproduce within that race, their race is doomed to extinction. We live in a society where hypocrisy is paramount. The impending extinction of a remote tribe of a few hundred primatives in some jungle is considered a tragedy, yet the impending extinction of the White race is greeted with glee.....and by the very governments and institutions which are supposed to be protecting those people
Everywhere, in the media, in every ad, we see the beauty of the White woman celebtrated, but I asjk Whites to consider what a cold dead repulsive world this would be when that beauty is no more
You hypocrites speak of diversity, but how is it diversity iif we are reduced to one brown mass. White men who look with joy or indifference upon the extinction of the White female should look between their legs to see if anything is there
Oh you foul vile corrupters of the Earth, know now, that we fear no evil, and are ready with joy to scarifice our lives in defense of the divine beauty of the White woman! DEATH TO THE NEW WORLD ORDER! HAD ENOUGH? JOIN WHITES ALL OVER THE WORLD TO FIGHT BACK HERE

What could anyone possibly come up with to think that it would be wrong?

This is fcking 2006. Racism seems kind of barbaric for someone living in these times, I think.

Nothing right or wrong.. all personal choices. I personally feel that two ppl brought up in a similar environment (fianncial, religious, ethnic) will be better off in the long run as they have more in common.
