a 100% of 12 million is 12 million. Right. So 1.23 billion is much greater than 12 million. Pretend your salary was 12 million and your boss gave you a raise. Your new salary is 1.23 billion which is 1,230,000,000. How many times greater is it than 12 million? IN other words how many times can 12 million fit into 1.23 billion. Remembering that for each 12 million more in salary, that counts as100% above your previous salary. For example if you made 18 million, that's a 50% raise. Right. What about 24 million, well that's twice your previous salary. Right? So that would be like saying 200%. This makes sense since 24 divided by 12 is 2. So to find your % increase just divide 1.23 billion by 12 million and multiply by a hundred to get your percent increase.

1.23 billion = 1230 million
Increase = 1230 - 12
= 1218 million
% of increase = (1218/12) * 100
= (203/2)*100
= 20300/2

We can check this by taking (12,000,000)*(101.5) = 1,218,000,000 Then take 1,218,000,000 + 12,000,000 to get your 1,230,000,000
