I believe in both not completely as fact or completely as false. A wise person tries to look at things form all aspects. It's important to make the most of you life and to try not to waste time. But even after sometime partying and thoughtless acts become empty and somewhat tedious as the boring goal they ran away from.
The world's resources will be depleted by 2050 and without drastic change (and space travel is hopeless to adapt to a new planet) its important to live a fully exciting life but to still have somewhat a philosophical completion in you mind when you review yourself though your owns eyes and other's who really matter like (hopefully) by that time you have a significant other (a partner spouse, friend, etc).
Everything needs to be balanced theres 2 sides to every face and a different response to every situation.
Hope I was of some help.
Until later yours truly,
Wranderer

I believe you can do both. :-) For one thing, if your eye is "just on the goal" and working all the time, you can stress out and possibly lose your people skills.

Get out and living life to the fullest, during your "off times", you can in a sense still be working, by building a network. Each person you come in to contact with will be part of a network for you to help you acheive your goals.

So, have fun, but keep your eye on that goal! :-) It's your life, you can choose to enjoy it or not. Take care.

I don't see these "two" things as separate and discrete choices. I really do both all the time. Some people really think these things are separate: there are the sensation seekers and there are the driven goal doers. Everyone really is doing both, setting goals and experiencing as much as they want to experience. Working hard and having fun can work together, especially if you love what you do with work.

both can either make or break you. life is unpredictable so you have to be flexible on both ends. with both you can end up being self-centered. a balance between the 2 is good. i think most dont have enough fun tho. its not good to turn into a business as usual type person. having all the fun you can have while being responsible is good. you come into life with nothing and leave the same way. memories and anticipation are all we really have.

Perhaps working towards and fulfilling a goal will enable you to live life to its fullest - I don't think they have to be exclusive of one another.

my view on life is., we're all dyin from the day we're born,so right off the bat, look what we have to look forward to...life is also supposed to be "what you make it ",you can't be negative about everything,or a major procrastonator, which i am,both of those...but..life has thrown me quite a few curve balls, and it hasn't exactly been a picnic..but ,it's also a learning expeirence as well....at any rate..there will probally not be one answer the same on here ,for this ? everyone has their own perception on life...

For me, I would chose the second one. I have never been a huge risk taker and hate partying. I also believe in personal responsibility and that the only one to take care of me is myself. It helps that I have watched my family go from poor farmers to more successful careers in one generation. I am in the second generation and we are doing better than our parents who are doing better than their parents.

I believe in pretending to live. Roleplay life. Play out each part. Then walk away from it as me.
