I, for one, am extremely proud of what they have done this year.
Yeah they were a little sloppy in some of those WS games,
but you know what? The St Louis Cardinals deserved to win.
They simply played better baseball than The Tigers did.
Congraduations to The 2006 World Champion St Louis Cardinals.

Congrats to the Tigers on a great season. You surprised everyone in the regular season and Jim Leyland is a class act.
You should be proud of it, you'll be back next season.

Good job GeorgiePorgie!

Both Tiger and Cardinal fans have a lot to be proud of this year.

The Tigers came within a game of breaking the single season record for losses just THREE years ago... this year, they beat two rather heavily - favored teams in the playoffs to advance to the World Series for the first time in 22 years! I have family in Michigan, and they had an absolute blast this year, and that's nice to see.

Yeah, some people point out that the Cardinals won "only" 83 games this season, but they got hot in the post season at the right time.... Being a Met fan from WAY back, I certainly have nothing against the Cardinals for winning the series with 83 wins... after all, my Mets (in 1973) finished 83-79, and took the Oakland A's to seven games in the 73 series (I went to the two games at Shea that the Mets won, games 4 and 5, in addition to attending games 3 and 5 of the NLCS, both won by the Mets).... and had they beaten the A's (who that year won the second of three straight titles) in 1973, I wouldn't have cared how many games they won in the regular season... Cardinals fans REALLY have a lot to celebrate this year.

I wish the World Series could have been "better" (as in seven games), but the Detroit bats just weren't clicking, thanks to some great, great pitching by St. Louis.

With the exception of the Rogers situation in game 2, the players showed great sportsmanship on both sides... I think that the players on BOTH sides were well aware of the great baseball history and tradition of their two great cities, and wanted to put on a good show for the fans.

Congratulations to both the Cardinals and Tigers for their great seasons! And good luck next year as well...it's one thing to get to the top, it's another thing to stay there... but even though I like the Mets (and root for the Yankees if the Mets lose), I like to see St. Louis and Detroit have great baseball (not that St. Louis hasn't been a great team the past few years).

wtg Cardinals and Tigers!

Hey Georgie!!! Yes, you should be proud of what Detroit has accomplished this season. They were THE STORY of baseball of 2006. They had one heckuva run. They just ran into a St. Louis team that just played better. No one really gave the Tigers much of a chance going into to the postseason. Most people felt that the Yankees had too much for the Tigers, but they proved them wrong after losing the 1st game, and then going on to sweep them, and sweeping the A's in the AL Championship. Those series were great!!! But once they got to the World Series, they didn't play as well as they had during the playoffs. St. Louis came into the playoffs as a underdog too....so kudos to them for winning the title.

Georgie, I've read your posts all season long, and I'm glad that your team had a good season, they just fell a bit short, but that's ok, your team has a very bright future, with great young ball players. As I said earlier they were the feel good story of 2006!!!

A lot of people are bitter when their team loses and trashes the other team. You are a class act all the way. You realize that your team accomplished so much this season, but you congratulated the other team.... Way to go Georgie!!!!

Georgie I couldn't agree more. The Tiger's played their hearts out. They did what everyone said they couldn't do. Yes they made some errors but ya know they are not the first team to ever lose a world series. We can still hold our heads high and congratulate the cardinals. I am not to proud to say Congratulations.

Just remember there is always next year. The boys of summer will come back swinging. Good game Cardinals good game.

Tiger's are not dead we will be back next year.

Yes, I am proud of the Detroit Tigers this season because they had a magical season that will be remembered for years to come. Although the Tigers are not going to share World Champions title with the 2006 Women's National Basketball Association Detroit Shock (which would have been awesome if that had happened), I am still proud of the Detroit Tigers for becoming the 2006 American League Champions and I believe that the Tigers will have greater success next year and for years to come.

I am a big Tiger fan and I would have loved to see them win the series. The Cardinals played a better game and as you said, they deserved the win. It appeared as though the Tigers entered the series thinking it was going to be easy wins. They found out they were wrong. With the amounts of errors that they had, along with the lack of hits and the poor pitching in some of the games, The Cards. deserved to win the series. With that being said, yes I am proud of the tigers. They went from being the laughing stock of baseball, 3 years ago to being in the World Series. That is something to be proud of.

The ride that the Tigers took us on was amazing and blissfully unexpected. I am so happy for what they have given us and the city of Detroit, and I finally can look forward to Tigers spring training, something I have never looked forward to. Congratulations to the Cardinals. Here's hoping the Tigers will take the title off of them next year.
