Does anyone know a good way to find open local community theater auditions? Something more effective than scanning the bulletin boards of coffee shops...?

I've heard there's a specific website that helps you find auditions for your area. Does anyone know what this is?

I would call any local theatres directly and ask about audition information and for a season schedule. Also request to be placed on their mail/e-mail list. If you do not have an "Auditions" section in your local paper (check on Sunday), you will have to network and be creative. Go to see shows and meet the people involved. Volunteer to help with stage managing/props/ushering- community theatres ALWAYS need dependable volunteers. That is a good way to get your foot in the door. Check on "craigslist" under the CREATIVE and TALENT categories for your city. I wish you luck.

Call the theaters you're interested in. They would know where their auditions are posted. Some companies post auditions on their own websites, some communities have a free or low cost newspaper to announce auditions. Others have a central website.

Here in Phoenix, an enterprising actress/photographer decided to market herself and provide a service, creating durantcom.com in the process. She announces local auditions and gets people to visit her website at the same time. Genius marketing!

Look in the theater section of your local newspape. Call the community colleges and the professional theaters and ask how you can find out about their auditions.

Community Theater is exactly what it says it is: a community activity -AND- I can only tell you that you are about to have the best time of your life! My suggestion would be to go directly to the top pass Go and call the cities Park and Recreations Director -or-
the City Manager and ask them. They are directly involved in these
activities. Have a blast!
