The guitar is new. I don't know if it is static electricity or what? It happens when I am in the bleachers in football stadiums playing with a band.

I agree with the first answer, check your amp to see if there's a polarity switch. And when you play outside, NEVER stand directly on the ground. Always stand on something, plywood, pallets, staging..anything you can find to keep you insulated.

Be careful of those old fifty's metal microphones too, I had one nearly electrocute me once. No fun.

It's not your bass, I'm pretty sure. It's either a problem with your amp not being grounded properly (ground plug broken off at the socket) or how they have the electricity wired up in the stadium. I have played gigs where EVERYTHING you touch shocks you and it had nothing to do at all with my instrument or any other equipment.

Change the polarity on your amplifier.There's either a switch for it (it might be labeled ground) or flip the plug over.

Are You plugged into a amp, when your outside, If so You might have something loose in your pickups

you might have a bad chord. if you play outside, make sure your amp is grounded and also make sure your using an instrument chord instead of a speaker one.
