Go and give it a try.
A few people have said that we were never supposed to live in a world this technologically complex in the first place - that we were never made for it.
It makes sense. Originally, man was supposed to live in touch with the land and each other, but instead what has happened with technology is that we live increasingly disconnected from each other, and the land. To the farmer and the early settlers, rain was the giver of life. Now, we hate it when it rains and it ruins our day.
This is preposterous.
A lot of people should realize that the main reason why we (the US) got here (the "only remaining superpower") was because of our vast reserves of oil. Oil infiltrates nearly every aspect of our society today - to the plastics, medicines, and heat to our cars, trucks and boats that bring all of our worthless junk from China.
It is quickly destroying our environment and quickly running out (see the link on Peak Oil).
So to live "Amish", as it were, is actually a very practical, realistic way to cope with what's been and prepare for what's coming. It would be great if others could think the same.

Did you forget your Prozac or are you clinically proven as being Bi-Polar? Who the hell wants to live a lifeless space with nothing to be amused over with the exception of the noise coming from the windows considering there is no central heat and air? Are you feeling ok? I admit, they seem peaceful but wouldnt everyone be if we all decided to live our lives on a toilet in the dark? I recommend some more thought. Also, the basic principle obehind being Amish is to obey the laws of God set forth to ensure that we humans carry out our decisions to worshipHIm only and not to idealioze ourselves with fashion and envy. This stems from the fear of money as it can indeed buy peace also. I dont believe that God will be anymore pleased with a self sacrifice considering his own son died for our right to breathe.

Yea well, I get radom urges to run naked around my block but I don't do that cause it's weird. Look, You don't have to be Amish to be peaceful, kind, and generous. Just be those things. As for the Tech Crap, well, you don't really have to buy into that either. Nix you computer, TV, and other electronic devices. Although, if you ditched you computer, How would you be able to recieve our wonderful answers to you ongoing plight?

Well, if that's really the life for you, I think you should go ahead and pursue it. I think it's nice to hear someone say that, everyone else is so rude and impersonal and you look at their way of living and actually approve and envy them. I think it's nice, it isn't weird, hun. I think if that's what you like then you should join their culture. They live off the land and live well with only what God has given them. THey really are a peaceful lot. I definately applaud you rather than think you're weird in any way. More people should be like you. :-)

I can appreciate the appeal of living a simple life, not worrying so much about money or technology. However, I think it would be difficult to make the transition to that sort of life. Have you ever lost power in a storm or something? No computer, no television, no lights.... can you imagine living your whole life like that? Eek, I wouldn't even survive a week!

Nothing all that weird about it. Every once in a while I long for that kind of simple life. Then I remember what it was like when I really did live without electricity or central heating and decide my life is about simple enough now.

They have an official website which they allow because they want the world to know correct information about them. I'm sure you can find it easy enough. They do accept outsider into their fold except one of the requirements is to speak 3 languages. English, high German and I can't remember what the third is. Good luck!

do not challenge too a lot, that beep received't damage. in case you do not have sound, it could be the computer reenacting sounds on that is own. regrettably, this may be led to be thousands of issues so it really is puzzling with the guidance given to locate a precise answer. What are you doing even as the computer beeps?

Check it out. I knew of a man who traveled the world and studied many religions to find himself. (He was born Jewish.)
In the end, he chose Judaism because when he practiced the faith, it made him feel connected. Do the same and use your life and freedoms to explore. It's the journey that makes your faith real. And that will be true, no matter what you end up choosing.
