Hi, as far as i know the sky becomes blue because sunlight hits earth's atmosphere, blue light is scattered by the air and it appears that the sky is blue....For added information, ordinary light is made up of 7 colors. We see each of these colors only if they are reflected by something or split off in some other way.

The sky is blue because all the other colors of the visible spectrum are absorbed in the sky atmosphere, thus reflecting what is not absorbed, - BLUE. Also, the blue color has a specific wavelength. This blue color is then detected by the photoreceptors in the retina of the eye. The image formed is then translated it in your brain as the perception of blue color.

the blue coloration of the sky is by way of Rayleigh scattering. As easy strikes in the process the ambience, many of the longer wavelengths bypass immediately by way of. Little of the crimson, orange and yellow easy is laid low with the air. even nevertheless, maximum of the shorter wavelength easy is absorbed by way of the gasoline molecules. The absorbed blue easy is then radiated in diverse guidelines. It gets scattered all over the sky. Whichever direction you seem, a number of this scattered blue easy reaches you. when you consider which you spot the blue easy from everywhere overhead, the sky seems blue.

Actually, the sky is violet and blue, but since our eyes are more attuned to seeing blue light, that's what we see when we look at the sky.
But that doesn't really answer your question, does it? So, why is the sky blue? It is because the wavelength of light from the sun that appears blue to us strikes air molecules (e.g., oxygen, nitrogen) and scatters more widely that the other wavelengths of light, so our eyes perceive it as blue.

it's because of the way the sun's radiation and light interact with our atmosphere and the way it is refracted. i think it's the nitrogen that it interacts with and thats also why we see different shades of colors when the sun is setting because the sunlight is directed in such a way that more hues and shades can be seen this also explains why we see mars as red it has a different chemical to make it seem red but why the reverse would happen as well on mars.

the sky is blue not because it is reflected by the water....

it is because of the spectrum present in the atmosphere..since the color blue is the strongest color in the spectrum reflected by the light from the sun...hence..we see now our sky...as color blue...
