BAGHDAD: AP OCtober 28, 2006 Iraq's Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki said he thought that Iraqi troops, left to their own devices, could re-establish order in Iraq in six months, not the 12 to 18 months that top U.S. commander Gen. William Casey had predicted Tuesday.

I imagine he would not say this if he didn't believe it could be done. Why not either get out or stay completely out of line of fire and let the Iraqis take care of their own. Civil war you say? What could possibly be worse than it is now. AND it would save an unnecessary loss of American troop lives

Nouri al-Maliki made some good factors in his rebuttal to the president. He needs more effective guns, and larger aggressive preparation. I certainly do not see how we can deliver this conflict to an end without stepping up our help logistically and financially. this isn't a skirmish which will go away any time quickly. those human beings (those who hate the west) are hell bent on destroying us. they'll not in any respect go away if left to their own gadgets. we ought to empower those contained in the final public who use difficulty-loose experience particularly than religious fanaticism to workout consultation this cluster **** of a challenge.
