RepUGLYcans steal. Democrats have sex-- so the money sits around and collects interest (instead of disappearing into people's pockets.

I don't understand some of these people. Do they not get what the view of the democrat is? To redistribute the wealth through programs that help people. Yes taxes are raised but the taxes are distributed down. Ok? Don't get closed-minded... Understand how that would work, ok? Even if you disagree with it you have to see WHAT it is before you say you disagree. Now, it IS possible the democrats could have. That would depend on events that would have happened durring their term and who the president is. Bush spent a lot, another Republican could've just as easily cut taxes along with useless programs crowding our system like cholesterol clogues arteries.

If they controlled Congress and the White House, they could have easily spent more.
When have Democrats, of their own volition, been serious about reducing spending? The only cuts they ever seriously propose are to the military budget, and that would have been rather difficult in the aftermath of 9/11.

No way. Although I think they would have liked to.
First it is a well established fact that when tax rates are reduced tax income increases. Because lower tax rates cause increased economic activity and tax revenue increases.
The Democrats would have raised taxes choked off the economy and wouldn't have been able to spend as much as the Republicans.
The libertarians are the only ones that would have lowered taxes and spending.

I am sure they probably would have but if you take away the Iraq war and hurricanes Katrina and Rita we would have spent a lot less. We would have even spent less than that if the democrats would not have tacked on pork to legislation intended for the military and the effort on terrorism.

The Democrats would have spent more money but they wouldn't have cut taxes. So although the government would have spent more money, we would have a balanced budget and wouldn't have this ridiculous national debt.

Absolutely! Democrats love to spend our money with lots and lots of feel good programs. I do think some "feel good" programs are necessary, but the giveaways can get ridiculous.

I assume that you are speaking of the deficit. The answer, in that case, is NO.
