try the many different television shows on hgtv or diy. They can send you on to the manufacturer who donates yarn.

Try searching http://www.caretotrade.com. It's a free trading site, and if they don't have any, you can't post a "wanted" ad and someone should get into contact with you.

try the freecycle groups here on yahoo groups. they have different ones for each state/area post your need for yarn there, those are free-give aways. they dont do buy/sell stuff - theres www.craigslist.com for buying/selling.
