Swordtails give birth to youngs. They retain their eggs inside their bodies and give birth to live, free-swimming young.That is why they are called live-bearing aquarium fish often simply called livebearers.

The Green swordtail (Xiphophorus hellerii) is a species of freshwater fish in family Poecilidae of order Cyprinodontiformes. It is also called Red swordtail.♥

Definately live birth. They are mammals who give birth to their young. However, if they are similar to the great white sharks, their young, in utero EAT eachother and only the strongest one survives!! In EVERY birth the mother delivers only one....incredible.
