My mother had severe toximia....she gained nearly 100 lbs. and my brother has Cerebral Palsey....so my doctor told me to take 81mg asprin everyday to prevent toximia like my mother had.....has anybody else done this? Is it okay for the baby? The box says you shouldn't take asprin when you are in your last 3 months of pregnancy. I'm only in my 5th week....but still....

I was told never to take asprin during pregnancy for any reason. I am sure a few won't hurt but I wouldn't risk it. I think you are only allowed to have Tylenol. I had that when I was pregnant and there isnt really anything they can do for it. Just maintain a healthy diet, exercise, and rest. Thats it for now. Good luck and hopefully you won't get it. I didn't get it til the very end.

Ask to get a second opinion from a perinatologist. Just because your mother had toxemia does NOT mean that you will have toxemia. There is conflicting data regarding the benefits of aspirin to prevent toxemia. I hope that you mean baby aspirin and not regular.

One more thing, baby aspirin may be prescribed during pregnancy for many reasons (and can be safe if used appropriately). If you have concerns about the necessity of using it during pregnancy, you need to discuss it with your doctor.

I would say no. My doctor told me to stay clear of aspirin, in any form, during pregnancy. I would get a second opinion.
