Throughout this entire year in sports the Detroit teams have been on top but only their WNBA team won. First the Pistons had the best record for the entire NBA season and lost in the Eastern Conferance Championship to the Heat, and now the Tigers, who had the best record throughout most of the MLB season this year lost at the World Series. Not to mention the depressing season by the Red Wings, do you Detroit fans and people from Michagan think this is the most depressing series you guys have ever had? I hope you guys don't think that because honestly it is true testiment to how good Detroit and Michagan is at sports that you got this close in so many sports this year, and trust me as a Pacers (I am from Indiana) fan that is tough to say. So don't look at this as failure, think about this as a tremendous accomplishment for your city and state.

Wow guitarmike, way to kick a city when its down. You have class. Are you from NYC?

Anyways, it goes back to the old adage: is it better to love and lost then to have never loved at all?

I would rather have had the success of a team that went to the WS and lost then a team that lost 119 games as was 2003. 2003 wasn't even enjoyable, and I will watch the Tigers regardless of how good/bad they are.

Yes, the Pistons collapse sucked in the playoffs, but better then not winning.

The Lions are guaranteed to stink and the Red Wings have been soft in the playoffs for a couple years, so it's sadly the norm.

Our college teams are generally solid and even though I am a Sparty fan, I will be pulling for UofM to win it all.

Since you are from Indiana, you understand what it means to pull for other teams from the Big Ten as you want those that you have battled against to succeed because that means you were a better opponent.

Congrats St. Louis and go get 'em next year Tigers.

Bless You Boys!

No, this year has not been bad for Detroit. At the beginning of the MLB Season, nobody could have imagined the Detroit Tigers being the 2006 American League Champions. I remember at one time when Detroit sport teams did not perform but since 2002, a Detroit Team has played in a championship and has won four championships in five years. These championships include the Detroit Red Wings winning 2002 Stanley Cup,.the Detroit Shock winning the 2003 and 2006 WNBA Championship, and the Pistons winning the 2004 NBA Championship. Maybe in 2007, the Detroit Lions will win the 2007 National Football Conference Champions and their first Super Bowl Ever in Super Bowl XLII in 2008. I am glad that Detroit has a winning attitude and wish all Detroit Sport Team the Best of Luck in the Future.

I have been a diehard Tiger's fan from way back when. I supported them when they lost 119 games in 2003, and I will continue to support them for life.

I don't care of basketball, I support the red wings but not that big a fan of hockey, as for football, I may be from Michigan but I am a Packer's fan. I live closer to GreenBay then I do Detroit.

I am not disappointed at all about the Detroit teams. Yes, the Tiger's made some errors in the series but think about it they came from having the worst record in 2003 to having the best record in baseball just 3 yrs later.

I congratulate the Cardinals even though I have read a lot of the posts the Cardinal fans have said and yes they are proud but a lot of them are just downright mean, which is one thing a Tiger fan would never do to an opposing fan had we won the series.

I grew up in the Detroit area and I am proud of the teams and fans that we have.

There is always next year and the boys of summer will be back fighting harder than they did this year.

Being a Detroit resident and a big fan of most Detroit teams I can honestly say it has been a very dissapointing year -- with a few exceptions. Yes the Pistons and the Red Wings were a huge HUGE dissapointment. The Lions are again failing to meet expectations and are headed for another pathetic season. The Tigers I'm upset about, but I am very proud of my team seeing them come back from a horrible previous season to the World Series the next...that is something to be very proud of. With the exception of the Detroit Shock none of our teams were able to bring their coveted champions trophy to the city, but seeing them get as far as they did and watching them play from the heart going out there every night and giving their all (not couting the Lions) is something I am very proud of.

And hey...there is always next year. :)

With all the focus on winning, people almost feel ashamed for getting there then losing. In baseball it takes seven wins just to get to the World Series. Hockey and Basketball, 12 wins. Football 2 to 3. Detriot's had nothing to be ashamed of this year- except maybe the Lions.

There can only be one champion in any given sport, and fortunately we Detroiters have had champions in Basketball, Baseball, and Hockey. Am I disappointed in the shortfallings of the Pistons, Red Wings, and Tigers? Of course. But they did us proud and we got their back for the next season and on.

The Lions?...eh, yeah...um...yeah. Anyway...

Which means fans from Detroit want them to lose a lot more.

That's just dumb. You don't get to the World Series by being the worst Tigers team...look at their record a few years ago,,,

Hey, they got there.

Although individually bad for the city, many teams didn't even get an opportunity

Maybe it's just a MIchigan thing. The Wolverines are going to choke against Ohio State.
