long 28-34 days , has lately been short? I had a period 9/8 and then on 10/4 it came again and I had spotting a week after my period ended and up until it came again! Now my period is on again, what can cause this to happen besides stress? I get regular check ups and was told by my doctor that I'm in good health, I am a 30 year old married mother of 3.

From woman to woman...
ANYTIME you have a question and your doctor tells you to not worry about it you are in good health and you still feel uneasy...find another doctor!
You already know that there is something going on that bothers you or you wouldn't have written this post. What you need is someone to shut up with "his" opinions and listen to you.

Personally, I go to Planned Parenthood. That is a woman's health clinic and sure they might perform some procedures that some people don't like but that's just a small fraction of their services. I like the security of knowing that when I say that I feel there is a problem, someone is going to listen. Because they are all women in my local PP and we all believe in listening to what your body is telling you. I get my yearlies there. Male doctors don't get it a;; they know is what they have read or studied. They don't know what it feels like to be a woman anymore than you or I know what if feels like to pee standing up or be proud of our farts.(joke) What do male doctors know about cramps or PMS anyway? Twenty five years ago they still thought is was all in our heads!
Do you know the actress Fran Dresher? Her body was telling her something and I think she went through 12 doctors before someone finally listened to her. Turns out that she had ovarian cancer and if she had waited as long as the other "doctors" wanted her to wait, she might not been alive today! Scarey, huh?

Don't worry though, it could be something as simple as getting older and your cycle's a little wacky. Birth control pills do wonders for that! AND the cramps too! I was on the pill for a few years due to the terrible pain but I recently decided to go off of it. It's been a year since I stopped it and I am regular and the pain is so much more bearable than it ever was before I took the pill.
So, if they suggest that you take the pill, don't be upset about it. It will regulate you. Just make sure that you do not smoke. But you are a mom so you wouldn't do something so terrible to your children as to smoke around them.
I really think you should find another doctor. One that will listen to you and take you seriously! Ask your female friends who they see and if their doctor listens to them. That will help you find a new doctor.

But I think that is what you should do.

Good luck to you!!

Well there is nothing wrong with having such a long cycle. I have had one (15 on, 45 off) since I was 13 and other than worrying about my iron count I have been told that it is just normal for me. When I switched my vitamins I did have a change in my period. Just as it did when I went on birth control.
As for the spotting could you be pregnant or starting early menopause?
Are you on a diet or new exercise plan?
Look into food allergies as well.

Have you had a pap recently? If so and nothings wrong you might want to consider the birth control shot that stops your cycle. I would tend to think a cycle like that is abnormal. Check with your doctor and tell him about your periods.
