Hi!!solve this prob for me,,plesszzz!!

A boy pushes a ball of mass 3 Kg from rest to reach a velocity of 6 ms-1 in 2s. What is the force applied on the ball?

what's confusing me is, what type of the force that acting on the ball and how to solve the problem. i already know its answer...

well you use Newton's F=ma.

a force F is required to cause an acceleration a, in an object of some mass, m.

a=6ms-1/2s=3ms-2

force=3x3=9N

Firstly, determine the acceleration that ball undergoes. Using the formula [ a = v/t ] where a stands for acceleration, v stands for velocity and t stands for time, acceleration is 6/2 which is 3ms-2.

Then, using the formula F= ma, where F stands for force, m stands for mass and a stands for acceleration, F is 3 X 3, which is 9N, where the unit is newtons.

The force is exerted by the ball, in order for the ball to move.

Hint: Use the first eqn of motion final velocity = initial velocity + at You will see that you need to solve for the time before you can find the final velocity (initial velocity is zero because the apple was at rest when it was hanging from the tree, a = 9.8 m/s^2) So to find time, use the 2nd eqn of motion: d = initial vel x t + 1/2a(t^2) d= 1/2g(t^2) because initial vel is zero Solve for time, and plug it into the first eqn good luck!

V = V0 + at
6 m/sec = a(2 sec)
a = 3 m/sec^2

F = ma
F = (3 kg)(3 m/sec^2)
F = 9 kg-m/sec^2
F = 9 N
