Violence can certainly solve things. The known world was almost taken over by unjust societies and rulers. The Romans, the Greeks, the British empire, the Japanese the Germans, the Ottoman empire, the Russians, north Koreans I mean the list goes on and on. Each time violence solved the problem where nothing else would have. You could argue it was violence in the first place that allowed those empires to grow and thrive. An you would be absolutely right

But when it comes down to it, you must understand, learn teach, master and above all else know when and how to use warfare. Its kinda odd really. Nearly all aspects of life teaches to kill. An animal for example needs death to live. They need to kill to eat.

Among criminals, they seem to be able to justify death and the killings of others in nearly every circumstance. Even if you do it simply b/c there is something wrong with your brain. There is always some kind of excuse. I would say half of killings is done for petty needless reasons, other times, its necessity.

Unwillingness to kill can possess an equally bad problem. Look at Iraq right now. Americans are so against hurting others American troops cant enter mosques to root out and kill the terrorists. So the terrorists hide there. We are to afraid to interrogate terrorists with loud rock music, and guard dogs barking to scare them. Its considered to inhuman to many. Our troops need to behave more like police than soldiers.

I remember after capturing a suspected terrorist we stuck him on a chopper. To read him his rights we had to take off the bag we put on his head, so first chance he got he bit me in the frikn shoulder. We wrestled around a bit for a 45 that was on the floor. Eventually he was kicked out at about 200 feet. This happens all to often so we can give the enemy the benefit of the doubt and read him his rights.

No way I was going to risk the lives of my men for him. Or there are people who say revenge is wrong and helps no one. Well revenge is one of the many reasons people kill. On sep 11th my buddies wife was killed in the towers. When they recovered her body, she was missing her leg. When we left for Afghanistan every kill we made on the members of al Qaeda my buddy chopped off their right legs. He used a machete. He called it his dune dweller shortner. Well its true revenge didn’t bring her back from the dead, but made him feel better.

Now that im back and retired, I can honestly say killing sucks. Weather it was for the right reasons or for the wrong. It sucks when it solved things and it sucked when it didn’t. But it was better than sitting back and doing nothing.

So why do people kill. Because it is hard wired into our brains.
Is violence really the way to solve things? Only when there is no other way.

Because in confrontation, which always escalates, physical power ultimately wins. Killing is the final expression of physical power. The more complex culture and society become, the more confrontations there are, and the more killing there is.

And yes, sadly, violence is, frequently, the only way to 'solve' things. If you get home and find your wife dead on the floor, and you go to the next room and your wife's killer is raping your daughter - will you try to chat with the perpetrator?

Violence isn't the way, no. Some people kill because they like, even love, the act of taking someone's life. Some people kill out of rage, hatred, envy, jealousy, crime of passion...and on and on. It's hard to really even find an explanation for those who committ serial murder. If you haven't read any of Ann Rule's true crime novels, I'd recommend it. She's the author who knew Ted Bundy before he got caught and convicted.

Violence is never a solution to anything . I think some people kill for money, hate, in the heat of the moment ( they just don't think it through),compulsion(serial killer) and some people are just mentally ill their judgement is impaired by their disease. I hope someday we understand what makes people kill and maybe then we can recognize it and hopefully stop so much killing.

If we knew why, we would stop it, and the world would be perfect, and life would be simple. If we knew why, people would stop being scared, and start living life more on the edge. But like my mom has allways said, theres allways a group of people that have to ruin it, and these people have ruined life, trust, and happiness. Im still waiting for the day, when people like you and me, figure out what could be evil enough to make someone think killing is Ok.

Violence in not the way to solve issues. However, no matter how civil you are, there may be times when you must fight and possibly kill.

If a robber is breaking into your house and attacking your family. Are you going to negotiate or fight?

Your answer is just too broad. I could seriously answer it well in a 5-page essay. You should make this question more narrow, like why people would kill each other over a lottery ticket.

1. Rejection of God
2. Living to serve/please self
3. Ignoring one's conscience in attempt to ease the conviction, which comes as a result of 1 and 2

Result: in rejecting God, the fact is denied that we have a greater power to answer to, we become our own "god", answer only to ourselves, the conscience tells one it is wrong but the continual pushing away of conviction results in a seared conscience. Selfishness results in hatred toward others because respect for them is lost as life is about you and you alone. So the seared conscience, plus a growing hatred, makes murder much more likely.

The simple answer: murder happens because sin happens. Sin doesn't have to happen, but it does because many choose to ignore God, reject Him and, with that, morals and conscience begin to be flushed down the toilet. The only long-term, effectual way to solve the murder problem is by going to the roots- the sin problem. Each individual must acknowledge their sin, repent and ask Jesus Christ to be their Lord and Savior then live in obedience to God's word. Until that happens, sin will abound.

John 3:
16For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

17For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

18He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

19And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

20For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.

21But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
