I'd call them and explain you really want to work for their company but you have an offer and need to make a decision. If you can't get a solid answer in the time frame you need, send them a thank you note thanking them, say you have taken the other job, and mention that you would be interested in working for them some day.

Dont wait take the first offer and then leave if the second one comes through
Meanwhile send a thank you letter to everyone that sat in on the interview thanking them for considering you and adding a line that relates to the conversation in the interview
(ie the Salmon proposal sounds like it will be a good asset to the communications division-blah blah blah)
Congratulations on the first offer and best of luck on the next one

How long did she say it would be before she got back to you. A couple days at the most. I would keep looking and I would take the other offer. You can always leave if you get the other job. It is easier to get a job/better job if you already have a job.

In my experience depending on the size of the corporation, the person who interviewed you and the person who's gonna actually push the paperwork to get you in the door rarely work together. I would call back in a couple of days just to let the interviewer know your still intrested. If they want you, they'll put some fire under HR's backside to get you on the job.

don't wait long enough to lose the other job. if you really want this one you can quit the other one and go to this one when they call. you send a follow up letter correct? if you thank them then they will think back on the interview and remember you i've had people call me up to three weeks after interviewing me. i've also been hired on the spot before so it depends on the company.

Three to four weeks. You COULD send them a letter thanking them for the interview and hoping you'll be working with their organizsation.
Keep the other firm on a string for as long as necessary.

Do not wait. Call them the next day they are in and tell them you want the job. Go after it.
