What mental institution are you thinking of that they get paid a lot of money?
The people I know who have worked in that type of environment are there because they care about people and helping those who have problems. It's not for the money. If it were, those people would be patients themselves because there's no money in that.

Sounds like you have had a bad experience. I work inpatient for the mentally ill. I promise you I don't do it for the money, the pay sucks. It is a very rewarding and challenging job. I have worked outpatient also. I am sorry if you have been mistreated. What people don't understand is that a person with mental disorder did not ask to be that way. They have feelings also. It is really sad at times. Also there are people who take advantage of the system and that is so wrong. Anyway good luck and god bless

I'm not condoning what goes on with patients...but I work in a corrections facility and what I find is that a lot of the time the red tape gets in the way of good care...the double side is that the red tape also protects the inmates.
They do not necessarily want "a lot" of money, frequently they are not paid what they are worth.

well there is no money in working at a mental institution so anyone that says that they are mental
However the reason for lousy job they do not have the desire to help those who are mentally ill

IF I WORKED AT A MENTAL INSTITUTION I WOULD TAKE GOOD CARE OF THE PATIENTS, I GUESS THAT'S WHY I DON'T WORK THERE, B/C I WOULD GET TO INVOLVED WITH THE PATIENTS, WHEN THEY DIE OR LEAVE, I WOULD BECOME UPSET, AND START CRYING.
